June 29, 2010 mad dog Men's 65 4190 posts | hey guys what about Chattanooga,tn for flights, its about 50 miles north of Dalton. frank i'm still looking at my priceline for then, but no real low prices in town, most are 15-20 miles away. |
June 29, 2010 DoubleL10 Men's 70 905 posts | You playing in the Heartland? I'll be going with DOC out of Arkansas. From what I've seen, Nashville and Atlanta are almost identical mileage-wise from Chattanooga. Driving up from Atlanta may involve heavier traffic but you have more flight options from Atlanta. Of course, if car rentals are cheaper out of Nashville, that would also be a consideration. |
June 29, 2010 armiho211 Men's 70 449 posts | MAD DOG- we decided to fly into atlanta ,total cost 209.00 per person, non-stop both ways. got rooms for 39.00 per day at the quality inn. as far as the car, there will be 4 of us flying into atlanta, that should drop the price substantially once we divide the expense. see ya in austin for the one day tourney on july 10th. frank a. |
June 29, 2010 J R 251 posts | we are going in at Birmingham Southwest great prices only 14 further than Atlanta plus free bags. Going in to Atlanta you pay for bags |
June 30, 2010 oneofeleven18 Men's 50 57 posts | JR- You might consider leaving Birmingham going up I-59 to Chattanooga and then down I-75 to Dalton. It keeps you out of Atlanta and its traffic. |
July 1, 2010 mad dog Men's 65 4190 posts | 1 of 11 18,its the way i drive there(up the 59) from east Texas.is there a way going across from Birmingham, without driving into Atlanta.someone told me there is a road that cuts across the mountain or something like that,to 75. |
July 1, 2010 oneofeleven18 Men's 50 57 posts | mad dog: I don't think there is a short cut as to say but if you take I59 to Gadden and pick up US 411, it will take you across the mountain and tie into I75 right above Cartesville, GA which is about halfway between Atlanta & Dalton. A scenic drive but only about half of it is 4 lane. Actually when you get south of Rome, GA you can take GA 53 and it connects with I75 about 30 miles out of Dalton. There are some other routes but I slow and 2 lane roads. |
July 1, 2010 mad dog Men's 65 4190 posts | thanks,i was just looking for a short cut,but if the driving time is the same as I59 to I75 guess no sense in doing it. |
July 3, 2010 JBTexas Men's 70 434 posts | Mad Dog, just came back from vacation in Jersey. Came back thru tenn and birmingham, it's about 15 hours from San Antonio total of 1020 miles to dalton. Pretty drive on I-59 but a long one. |
