July 14, 2010 Capt Kirk 541 posts | Trump Stote Softballs We use a Trump Stote .44/375 for league play here in San Antonio, TX. During summer play, the temps are in the 90's and the humidity can be high. Does anyone have an opinion on this ball? We use some old Dudley Thunder .44/375 softballs for batting practice and they seem to be a much a better ball. |
July 14, 2010 einstein Men's 50 3112 posts | Baden Fire balls. We use them in NorCal and everyone likes 'em. Get a micro cell ball like the one's they use in LVSSA and you'll feel like you died and went to softball heaven. Can't wait till we get there again this year. |
July 15, 2010 Capt Kirk 541 posts | What about the hot weather and high humidity, will the Baden Fire Balls hold up? I did a search on these balls and was unable to locate a website that sold them, any suggestions. Thanks |
July 15, 2010 einstein Men's 50 3112 posts | We don't have much humidity around these here parts, but in high heat, 100 plus, they still hit well. I noticed that even when they felt soft they hit well. |
July 15, 2010 Brett Men's 55 239 posts | My team played in a tournament here in the KC area a couple of weeks ago when the temperature was in the low 90's. After factoring the humidiy, the heat index was over 100. Yes, the Baden Fire softballs performed very well.....no complaints from anyone on my team. Kansas City Barons 50+ major plus |
July 15, 2010 madsenior 54 posts | Allow me to put my vote in for the Baden senior balls as well. We use them here in Big Sky and they work great. They seem to hold up better than the Trump and very easy to get. |
July 15, 2010 DoubleL10 Men's 70 905 posts | We used the Baden Fires today in Dalton; it was very hot and humid. The balls hit well this morning (9:30 game) but died this afternoon (4:00 game). We hit six out our first two games and neither team hit any in the 4PM game. I must admit Turn 2 played in front of us and Clatta hit some out and I think a few more went out but that was Major Plus. |
July 17, 2010 Lefty Men's 75 721 posts | Last Oct. I hit the Baden Fire ball but to me it might have been the same cover but not the same comp. My team only hit 4 out the 5 games we played. I avg. between 4 to 7 in this tourneyment every year. To me it's the worst ball I hit since I've been in Dalton. I'm not very big but theirs a few guys on my time that didn't hit one out. So like the old boy said you judge the ball by it's cover. PS Larry enjoyed talking to you. Your a great ball player. |
July 18, 2010 DoubleL10 Men's 70 905 posts | Lefty, We hit a ball in April in Mustang, OK that was marked exactly the same as those we used in Dalton. Back then, I thought the ball was very good. The results from this weekend have changed my mind, if, in fact, it was the same ball. I know several of the guys on your team can hit them out and I think y'all only hit 2 against us (Glenn and the guy with the green pinstripe pants). I was surprised Terrell didn't hit one and yourself as well. If I recall correctly, you hit 2 or 3 against our Oklahoma Turf Pro team last year in Pensacola at the SPA WinterNationals. Good to see you, Joe. Are y'all going to Gallatin? |
July 18, 2010 turn2 489 posts | Larry, The Baden Fire ball was pretty good. We hit a few home runs but we are not a home run team. We did use a LOT of balls to keep fresh new ones in the game. Later Donnie |
July 18, 2010 DoubleL10 Men's 70 905 posts | Donnie, I bet most teams in 60 M+ and elsewhere think y'all ARE a homerun team just because you have Clatta and he hits so many! |
July 19, 2010 Lefty Men's 75 721 posts | Larry I believe we are still going to Gallatin. Hope to see your team out their. Are you going to be with DOC or Texas 60's. If they use the ball we hit last year we are going to have a good time. I know I will. Can't wait. Joe Lefty Falcon Wild Bunch Softball Major 60's |
July 19, 2010 turn2 489 posts | Larry, Clatter and Hutch hit 4 a piece out. Wow that is not a home run hitting team. We did have 1 player hit 3 inside park home runs and 2 players hit 1 a piece inside park hr's. When you hit just as many inside the park home runs as you do regular home runs that does not make you a home run hitting team. The 50 major teams were smoking the hoe runs out on Sat. night. Later Donnie |
July 19, 2010 DoubleL10 Men's 70 905 posts | Lefty, I'm going to Gallatin with DOC. Y'all beat them twice (badly) and us once (badly). Hopefully, we can be more competitive in Tennessee! |
July 19, 2010 DoubleL10 Men's 70 905 posts | Donnie, In the 60's I don't think there are any what we would call home run hitting teams. Our team hit 5 in 4 games and they were all hit in the first two games before it got so hot. I did see Clatta hit 2 Thursday evening when the balls had gotten softer. |
