Early rain changed 1st round tournament games to 1-1, 5 inn games. Afternoon rains turns Sunday games into one pitch. Over 50 games to be played in 12 tournaments. Hope we don't get anymore rain.

The NSA Western Nationals were supposed to be August 8th & 9th at Clackamas, Oregon on the new complex. Four fields, all turf, infield and outfield. I'm talking senior ball and NOBODY but our team wanted to play.

That was some bolt of lightning Saturday afternoon. I was rounding second and did a low crawl to third.
The one pitch 5 inning games Sunday was fun! Congrats to Hendricks for winning the 55M+, The Wild Bunch for the 60M and my team, Kayson's/Sou Elite for winning the 50M! My other team, Miken/Anaconca placed 3rd in the combined 55 and 60M+.
The large fields that some played on totally changed the game. I was told the fences on these two fields were 370 to center and 320 down the lines. We hit Trump Stotes that didn't handle the heat well.

Kudos to all who competed and to Jerry and his staff for getting the tournament finished in spite of the fickle weather. One pitch certainly adds an air of urgency for a hitter :>) Also congratulations to The Chicago Bobcats and Big Daddy's for excellent tournaments and Job Central/Indy 60's as the 60AAA Champions.

That bolt of lightning had several guys doing the low crawl. A couple of them probably crawled straight to the restroom!

A pretty good tournament despite the weather! Nice work by the ground crews. That much rain would have stopped a lot of tournaments dead.

Also.........Congrats to the Dayton Legends who won the 60 AA. Webb's from Columbus, IN came in second.

It was a good tournament to see and talk to some friends because of the delays, Jerry did a good job gettint the tourney in, alot of games in a short time frame. only thing that was bad IMO was the big field 370 in the middle you would see 6-3 games in major+ for teams that was not adjust to the long fields and trump ball that got soft with the heat in the upper 90's. our team Kayson/ Southern Elite won the Major 50 because of foul balls and strike out because of the 1 pitch. We do have a outstanding pitcher that keep the other teams guessing what was coming the screwball or the curve.
I did not like the extar game in the loser brkt, but without it we would have when home Sat. and would not been there on Sunday. We were 6-4 overall and won the tourney and Team Arkansas was 4-2 overall and came in runnerup.
They are a first class team that if the tournament had stayed in the proper format would have IMO won the tournament.

Not to look a gift horse (actually earned award) in the mouth, but did any other "champions" get watches that don't work? Nice shirts, though.

Hey Mel, the watch is not broke, there is a small piece of plastic where the knob is that you set the time with, you have to remove the very little piece to get it to work, bring it to the game tuesday night and will show you, Rabbit

What a great ran Tournament under the circumstances.I never had the opportunity to play one pitch in all the years of playing softball. Truthfully any one of the eight teams could of won this tournament & we were fortunate to win our first game in the double elemation. Due to a fatal mistake of the D.O.C. player sliding into home for the third out which was the winning run.Well we out score them in the extra ending & won the game. Its exciteing and a great privlidge to play against such a talented teams.

It's just my 2 cents worth on this tourney..yes, HOTTTT, rained out Sat, can't control that. Diamond crew, great job.!!!
HOWEVER, I think we should have gotten to play the FINALS, (yes we were in it) 1-1 and play a regular game to see what happens! 1 pitch and 5 innings for the Finals wasn't good, the TD knew at the beginning of the day WE could get the Finals in, they were scheduled anyway to finish at the normal times, YES, we lost and came in 2nd. Would have liked to have been able to play the FINALS with a better chance than 1 pitch and 5 innings..

JMHO....

bruceinga, It was good to see you and all the Miken/Anaconda guys! You did us "oldsters" proud playing the 55 M+ "kids" very well. It looked like y'all had Hendricks until they put on a hitting clinic in the open inning to go from 9 down to 7 up! That also was some shot that Ed Rose hit on top of the scoreboard BEHIND the 325 fence! Best swing I saw on that big field.

LL, It was fun playing the 55's. I also enjoyed the one pitch part of the tournament.
When our 50 team played two games on that field Mike Langford hit 3 out in left. One cleared the scoreboard by a LONG way!
Sorry I didn't have time to talk.
Also, thanks for the Heartland info!
It was no surprise that Wazoo's team won!

Mel, Congratulations on the victory. The foot in mouth is something that I have learn to live with over the years. I talked to Jim over the weekend and he kept me updated. Good luck this week. Thanks Harry

Harry, We played well and were fortunate to beat some very good teams. I sometimes wonder if I ought to be concerned about getting "athlete's mouth." Best wishes for the rest of your season, your shoulder, and give my regards to Terri. Thanks again, Mel

My team,Brickyard "Fiddy Five" # 3 seed ,won the Winners bracket final , 55 AAA. Got double dipped by Pats of Florida.....Also heard that a lot of rain fell in Prescott . Is'nt that out west ? The ISA Tournament was loaded in all divisions with teams from Indy & Louisville . Hats off to those 2 cities for helping make the tourney a great success.....
