Reebok Senior Bat
Looks like there will be a new senior bat on the market soon. The Reebok Senior bat was certified about a month ago and went into production about 2 and half weeks ago.

The Reebok brass came to my Classic Spring Training event in February in force and brought some prototype bats to hit. The bats were ridiculously sick but broke rather quickly. The seniors that were there saw Davey Reed blasted some 450' bombs with it.

Since that time, I've had the pleasure to work with them in a small way on the development of this bat. They thicken the walls a bit to increase the durability. In addition, they added some kind of "new super glue" to assist in the durability department.

The latest prototype models I've hit were exceptional. Audie and I opened a brand new 28 ounce Ultra II end load right out of the wrapper and hit it along side a new 28 ounce Reebok end load bat. All three seniors hitting the Reebok bat reported 10'-20' more distance than the U-2 end load. The ball hitting the bat sounds like a 38 pistol going off. Kinda like the yellow rip it bat sound.

I don't yet know the date this will be available or the retail cost. I do know it will come in a balanced and end loaded versions from 26 ounces to 30 ounces.

Now, this is where I'm asking for your help. I'm trying to assist them in figuring out the percentages of bats to buy for each weight, both balanced and end loaded. You could help if you would be kind enough to take just a minute and respond back with what weight bat you swing and is it balanced or end loaded.

Thanks for your help,

Hi Curt,
Sounds like a nice bat. I prefer a 30 ounce end load. How about sending me a demo for the MTC guys to test out? : )

Curt, I hit with that bat at your camp and it was still hot even after it had cracked.

I swing a 27 U II. What kind of effect do you think it will have after they beefed up the walls, etc.

I was at the Western Nationals in Lacey, Wa a few weeks ago and this young man showed me a new senior bat, it was made by Baden. Ax handle and it cost $140.00. If the bat is like the ball, it won't sell.

Curt, I hit several of the Reeboks at CST this spring. I liked the way the senior bat hit, but several times it stung my hands. Have they addressed this issue? Or did anyone else have this issue?

I'm going see what they can do about getting us some demos bats. I'll let you guys know.

Ed, I hit some with the thicker walls and they still dropped some serious bombs. I haven't hit then since they added the new glue. I'm waiting on a actual production model now.

Jim, I've hit both versions, end-loaded and balanced, and didn't notice any vibration. I have not yet to hit the production model. When I do I'll post a full report.

Hey Guys,
Earlier this afternoon I officially accepted Reebok International's
offer to become their ambassador to senior softball. I'm extremely
grateful and excited to join the Reebok family. I am also looking
forward to joining Hank Garris as a Reebok sponsored softball
player. This is a position I don't believe I even remotely deserve.
However, I will do my utmost to promote Reebok's new line of
softball equipment to senior softball players across America.

We played in the Southern Championships tournament in Birmingham this weekend. There was one team from Memphis that was swinging a Reebok bat. It was black with a white Reebok emblem. If that is the bat you are talking about you might want to get into different teams hands so that people can see what the bat can do. Hopefully it was a brand new bat and they were still trying to break it in.

I play rightcenter for Ameriprise. Beachburn is correct. The bat I used was borrowed from a Nashiville area sporting goods to try out. It was a blue Reebok with a large emblem. It was unique because it had 3 oval holes about 8 inches below the handle. It was marked ASA/USSSA/NSA. I did'nt see Senior on this bat. We are AA, no home runs. This bat hit well and the 3 holes was interesting but not the Chollis mentioned. Big D probably would have added a fourth hole to it the way he launches.

The bat you used was the Reebok Vector O, it was the USSSA version, not the senior bat. The 2011 senior bat will not have the holes in the handle....I think they are thinking seniors are set in their ways and would resist change. LOL. I have seen a number of the Vector O's in action and they hit the ball well. I have one myself.

P.E. I hope I didn't offend any one but that bat didn't have a lot of pop and you did have some guys who hit well with it anyway. Thats why I thought it may need to be broken in but seeing it was not a senior bat that explains it.

Chollis hope the bat works out well for you.

Big D what position do you play? I think we play on the same team(yeah that sounds sad). I just don't know your last name or what state you live in. Guess that comes from me being new to the team. We have a BIG D that plays/played for us.

Beachbum, "Don" - I overlooked your quote - earlier. It is just a rumor That I hit the ball a mile - I actually get "lucky" quite a few times?? The perfect Storm blows when I am at the Plate (i.e - Wind blowing out , Using a great ball, and my bat fully broken in - and the pitcher just lays a room service strike down the middle!! What else could a Player ask for?? (Smile!!!)

Hey Beachbum, no offense taken here...your just telling it like it is.

On another note, I'm scheduled to receive some bats today that are being flown in for "show". Lookie, touchie, feelie but no hit'ie. These bats will be used in some photo shoots and then taken to a few upcoming tournaments for the guys to see.

Still no word on the demos, they are coming over with the regular shipment by ship.

Hey Hitsone,

Both versions of the Reebok senior softball bat have been tested for the 1.21 BPF and they both have passed this test and are approved for senior softball standards. I think the release date is January 1, 2011. There will be few demos available in a few weeks. I'll be taking demo request thru Tuesday at 5:00pm and then the selection process will begin.

They also sent me a couple personal bats to hit and give them some feedback on. I hit a round with my brother, Audie, earlier today using 44/375 balls. We used a 28 ounce end load and hit directly into a stiff wind coming in from left center. We both hit from the right side but right out of the wrapper the bat had no problem with 300' into the wind. We put 70 swings on it. The bat feels good and has a nice sweet-spot. I know I can't be considered impartial because of my connection to Reebok. Audie, on the other hand, doubted the production model would hang with his red, end loaded Ultra II. I knew going in he would be my toughest critic....After we got done, he said he was impressed......and he wants his Hollis Appraisal team to go exclusively with the new Reebok senior bats. Whew...relief!

Just wanted to give you guys a update on the Reebok senior bat. I'm putting a production model 28 ounce end load through its paces. The bat is performing very well but that is not what I wanted to report. I got to say I've been really impressed with the durability. Here is a rundown on the sessions.
Saturday - 70 swings - Me/Audie Hollis (Major Plus)
Sunday - 60 swings - Me/Audie Hollis (Major Plus)
Monday - 45 swings - Glen Smith (AAA)
Tuesday - 70 swings - me/Audie Hollis (Major Plus)
Thursday - 155 swings - me/Audie Hollis/Randy Parker/Steve Dorrell (Major Plus)
The bat currently has 400 swings on it with 355 swings by major plus players that hit with very good power. I break a lot of bats and get 60-80 swings out of Launch 510, about 100 to 150 out of an Ultra and roughly 300+/- out of the Combat. These other major plus players break bats but not at I rate I do. Personally I think I have roughly 150 swings on this bat. I never thought this bat would last 400 swings with these guys swinging it. The bat still looks good, it has some fine spider cracking. No rattles yet.

The balls we are hitting are left over from February's Classic Spring Training event. They are 44/375 Trump Stotes.

This is not the bat that was raffled off at last years TOC. The bat you are describing sounds like the Reebok Vector O. This is a new senior bat and it does not have the holes in the handle.

The swing count has risen to to 628 wings with 517 swings put on by major plus players with good power.

I finally got a chance to swing this bat over the weekend and I was very impressed.

Although I normally swing a 27 oz balanced bat, I took some cuts in BP with a 28 oz end loaded Reebok. I didn't take very many swings with it because we were getting loose for a game, but the ball jumped off the bat.

After going through a couple bats a year, I'm really looking forward to getting this bat in my hands and being able to get used to it and swing it for a whole year.

Curt ... took about a dozen swings with the 28 oz endload Reebok this weekend and was impressed with the pop the bat had. Tell Mark thanks.

Durability is a major issue with me .. have broken 3 Miken Ultras (one more this past weekend)in the past few months. 2 had less than 100 cuts on them and momma ain't letting loose of her wallet anytime soon!

Hopefully this bat will be the answer.

Curt and too all who hit the new Reebok bat. I also hit with the new bat,yes it was as a nice bat.It felt the same as a U-2, it hit the same as my new U-2"special edition". As far as "pop",i'm a ok power hitter,i can use any "senior" bat and hit a home run,to me it comes to durability, not many of us can spend the money on these bats.If Reebok wants to sell these bats, put a warrenty on them. For me i'll stick with my Yellow Combat.

I been trying out this new Reebok Seniors bat this week and it is the hottest thing I have ever swung. Tuesday
evening I hit 25 out of 40 balls over 320 ft. I hit 3 or 4 400 ft. Those of you who know me will say that I can hit that far with anything, but I'm here to tell you that this bat is special. Our pitcher swung it and he is not a power hitter, 5'9" 170 lbs, and hit one 330 ft. He also says its the hottest thing he has ever swung. This bat is a 29 oz. endload and he normally swings a 26 oz.
Right now i have 190 swings on it and it still looks brand new. My suggestions to all the seniors out there, GET ONE NOW!!!!!!!!
