Aug. 4, 2010 Jetboy 62 posts | Something most married guys can relate too... At a recent ball game we played a make up game an hour after our regularly scheduled 7pm game concluded. At the end of the make up game, as most of us were leaving the parking lot, I saw one of the players wives arrive and give her husband a piece of her mind about him being out so late and not letting her know. Next game that player wasn't there but nobody had much to say other than "Did you see that in the parking lot last game?". During this game it was decided to make up another game since one of the teams wasa already there on another field. At the conclusion of our first game I said to a group of teammates "I think I'll call my wife and let her know we've got another game" a guy chimed in "I already called mine" and a second player said "Can I borrow your phone to call my wife?" But for the grace of God go I. |

Aug. 4, 2010 VINNY LV Men's 50 178 posts | my wife would've ask me why I was home so early. alot of times here after early games a team may need another player,, so we hang to help them out so they don't forfeit.. I know yinz are going to nsay that's not right,, but teams here in Vegas just want to play ball and they don't care.. my wife likes me helping out the softball community.. good littlt wifey that she is.. God I LOVE HER |

Aug. 5, 2010 Webbie25 Men's 70 2410 posts | I am a lucky guy in this respect, that my wife would NEVER make a scene if that happened, but I also have the courtesy to let her know if I am staying somewhere much later than expected. I really thought that was a given in any relationship. Just takes a second to get the cell phone and call. |

Aug. 5, 2010 stick8 1991 posts | Jetboy, in the scenario you describe I'd guess that guys wife has more issues with him than simply not calling her that night. |
Aug. 5, 2010 terryspears Men's 55 38 posts | My wife knows, after 60 years of watching me play baseball, softball, and basketball, that if I going to the ball field that that is where I'll be until I get home. May not be doing anything but talking to the guys over a Miller Lite, but at the park. |

Aug. 5, 2010 stick8 1991 posts | Titanhd I will be playing this weekend, with OKI Players. I presume your team is playing? If so, look forward to chatting with you!! |
Aug. 5, 2010 MaverickAH 58 posts | The only way my wife would get upset is if she showed up at the ballpark & I wasn't there! |
Aug. 5, 2010 stick8 1991 posts | Terryspears, I'm curious about something. Maybe I'm not presuming this correctly and I'm not trying to start a rift here, but presuming your between 55 and 60 years old (below your name it says your in mens 55) and your wife has been watching you play sports for 60 years, were you and your wife married before you two were born? I've heard of marrying young but tell me I'm reading this wrong? lol |
Aug. 5, 2010 mad dog Men's 65 4190 posts | oh stick you read to much,LOL,but hey i wouldn't mind knowing also. my gal knows once i head for the park,i'm there till it closes most likely.if something does come up i'll call her, like "honey i can't drive can ya come get me". |
Aug. 6, 2010 Swampy 24 posts | Let's give the first wife the benefit of doubt--maybe the guy usually comes home right after the game and she thought something might have happened to him on the way home. She may have been worried about his welfare. Communication is the key and I like how the other guys handled the change of plans. I still work, so our plan---if I am going to be longer than an hour, I will call home to let them know. Anything less, I don't feel pressured to leave right away if I want to chat. We have guys that their wives call them about 5 minutes after work time ends to make sure they are on their way home. Tough way to relax in a relationship! |
Aug. 6, 2010 armiho211 Men's 70 449 posts | i dont think MOST WIVES would embarrass their husbands in front of his friends. LIKE stick8 said- thre must be other probems involved. i make it a point to tell my "boss" approx time i will be home, and call her when i am on the way. it's a simple thing, everybody has cell phones or can borrow one. E.T-CALL HOME ! |
Aug. 6, 2010 Dirty Men's 50 1371 posts | Well, my wife knows I don't have one. Cellphones might be the worst invention of the 20th century, but I totally agree that simple communication is not an unrealistic thing to expect and provide. |
Aug. 6, 2010 Jetboy 62 posts | "Jetboy, in the scenario you describe I'd guess that guys wife has more issues with him than simply not calling her that night." I don't presume to know what issues the two of them may have, I just found it interesting that it prompted so many of the guys on the team to call there wives the next time we went late. |

Aug. 8, 2010 boston Men's 60 355 posts | If this is something most married guys can relate to then our society is full of a bunch of whip, neutered men. The only time I would call my wife, is if I had too much to drink at the ballpark and asked her to come and get me. She would then reply w/ love of course. Take a cab or get one of your buddies to drive you home you decided to drink to much. Gotta Love em. |
