Our Choice is Gates
I truly do not believe there is a bad senior bat on the market. I did have a chance to hit the new Reebok and it is really a great bat. I like the sound as the ball jumps off the bat.
I am also a big fan of Combat as they make a long lasting senior bat with good customer service.
Miken U2 is classical and will always be the bat of choice.
With all these great bats the choice is hard or easy depending on what is important to you. For me and most of my team we are going with Gates Veteran GBA. My GBA has over 500 hits and going strong. My friend got one and it cracked in 80 hits. It seems there was a bad batch and Gates shipped out a new bat which is holding up well. We like the ‘God Bless America’ on the bat, we like the personal customer service with the company owner and we like supporting a USA based Mom/Pop company that is working hard to provide a great product. We support the expertise Gates has in bats and we support know-how on how they deliver. For us it is not about the best bat which I think they are all about the same. It is a choice of support.

I second that. The GBA is every bit as good if not a tad better than the U2. We have 7 bats will well over 300 hits.

I picked this up from softball fans senior board. http://www.softballfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=920816

I have never written something like this but maybe my story will help motivate others in the future. I dont like talkin about myself as I feel embarassed and ashamed, how could this happen to me. I was getting my knee replaced but a week before xmas I found out I had a cancer(not in my family)as I was devasted and shocked. On Xmas eve I had a kidney and tumor taken out and after 17 lonely days in the hospital I was set free, cancer free as 3 doctors told me during my stay...3 months later it was back and has spread, again total devastion but I learned nobodys perfect-the doctors did their best. Now daily I take my"chemo pills" and continue to lift weights and hit softballs with my buddy but its not the same-I am hitting the ball 100 feet less than I could before. About a month ago I talked with Bill for 30 minutes and then bought a veteran which I now have about 500 hits on it(I could not believe a busy man like him would talk so long to me as I am nothing special)..my buddy bought a new Ultra and we compared it to the vet, both hit about 300 feet for him but we both like the balance and durability of the vet. Last week I finally had a break-thru,a couple off the fence and now today also,so I called Bill for about the 5th time and worked out a deal;this man is "class" and has always returned my calls quickly along with inspiring me to keep trying. I cant say enough good things about him,and with his help and my God I will continue to fight this disease and learn to live with it...I know I will never play again but look forward to batting practice because his bat has brought joy again back to my life...God Bless this man and his company and forever live "God Bless America".....johnzee

sounds like he is really wanting to help the senior player.if not for the 6 combats i have stored up(got thru deals and some trades)i might be looking at bill's and the other one out.they both sound like they went after the durability issue, which helps us fixed income types.

I couldn't agree more. I have not met Bill yet but he is a very professional man. I lost my daughter to breast cancer last week and Bill sent me a very nice encouraging email. I have read on the other boards how professional he is. I can personally attest to his nature. If he isn't a Christian man he sure has the inner spirit to be one. The qualities and integrity are unmistakable. He and his company will be an asset to the senior softabller. We at the SCSSA are looking forward to working with him in future.

On a side note I find it very interesting reading the verbal back and forth insults by the so called representatives of the competitors product. Without a defined territory this is what happens when you turn over sales to people that apparently have no professional sales background. I certainly hope the product is better than their marketing plan.

God's speed to you Johnzee. I will say a prayer for this man. May his fight be painless and with God's help he beats this horrible horrible disease.

I just got my Spirit ASA bat. Red, white and blue with GBA on the barrel. Looks great and just put some hits on it with a tee.
