Mothers Day tourney in Indy
I really don't think this is a good ideal for the majority of 50 to 55 year old players. A lot of us still have young children and living moms!

My mother lives out of town so I usually just call her, so playing on mothers day is OK with me and my family. My sons and I go out that evening with my wife for her Mothers day.

Well Mario, It sounds like you have it made. I work in the food industry and Mothers Day weekend is the biggest of the year! If I was to take a few vacation days for softball that weekend, I would never hear the end of it from the wife! My mom lives in CA but comes in for Mother's Day.

I see the date has been changed to May 7-8. Last week the Brickyard dates were April 30th & May 1st and I thought the Louisville teams would be able to come, now with it being Ky Derby weekend there's no way!

Just got the tournament schedule insert in the Senior Softball magazine and the Brickyard tournament is listed for the first weekend in May.........but this site has it listed for May 7-8......either it messes up mothers day or gets in the way of the KY Derby, which means our Louisville buddys might not show. Not sure which is correct....STAFF???

Corky, you know that you can always call me when you want info about this, 317-212-6310. The tournament has always been the first full weekend in May since 2000. In all of those years, neither Tim nor I have heard an issue about Mother's Day. The only conflicts that I have ever heard raised are the Kentucky Derby and the Mini Marathon.

I have been helping Tim answer E-mails, but I have not been on here much lately. I am more than glad to assist with any questions because I have been helping with this since 2000 and assist SSWC and Midwest whenever they need me to.

Well young lady I guess the disconnect is in the language "First FULL weekend" in May........in the past it's been the 1st of May. Could be a problem for those who have mothers still alive and wives who think they are your mom :).....Looks like we'll lose some good teams out of L'ville.
Nancy have you heard the scuttle butt about the Indy senior leagues movin to another park?

Northern California has an active softball association. Of the 58 NCSSA tournaments scheduled last year, not one was on Mother's Day (there was a Saturday only tournament on that weekend).

Maybe mothers are more domineering in California? Good luck scheduling a tournament on Mother's Day where you are. It doesn't seem to work well here.

Corky, thanks for the young lady shout out. Since 2000 it has always been the first full weekend in May which is Timmy's choice. He has a big youth tournament the weekend before. If a lady really loves her husband or son, she can get through this. If they don't, they are glad that the guy is gone for the weekend (an even better present).

I have been told a few thoughts on moving senior leagues, but it has been like this ever since Metro started having issues years ago. I think the biggest problem is that everyone has an idea of what park, and no one agrees. I was going to try to have it at Charney on Fridays a couple of years ago but got tired of the east side complaints. No park is close to all of us, but people will drive 100 miles to play at Shelbyville which is an excellent facility.

Our St Louis team has played in this tournament several years. Maybe the timing is different this year, but we never played on Mother's Day. Nor will we this year. We will look elsewhere for an early tourney.
