TOC - Loyce Harpe Park - Lakeland
Anyone played at Loyce Harpe Park in Lakeland. I think it is the old Carter Road Park. This is where 50 AAA is playing. Just wonder how good they are?

Thanks

I think they just redone them a year or so back

Not a bad park, better than the old one in Lakeland

I lived there untill last year. The county was putting in a new watering system. And when I left it was about to reopen. They are pretty good fields. Except for the bugs. But at this time of the year it won't be a problem. I was hoping we would play there. But we have to to Auburndale

Mich Vet, your right this is the Carter Road fields, renamed in the last year or so. Fields are great, use to have a little drainage problem but with the new water system should be fine. Played there many a time in the FHC and of one of my favorite parks. Just far enough from things were parking is good but place's to eat within half mile. Easy to get to but a ride for Mad dog in Kissimmee but he does like to drive. Mad Dog first thing in the morning plan on a hour+.

I played a tournament in Lakeland Fl a few years ago. The in-field was sand that was packed with a small machine like a huge roller highway dirt packer.

Beware if in-field is packed sand. I slid into 3rd and the packed sand took all skin off my calf like sandpaper.

The ball bounced good off it though.

brian warner--if you were staying up at I-4 and 33 near the tigers spring complex, which is the best way to get to loyce harper complex.

Take 33 south to Bartow rd. left 1/2 mile to 37 then left(south) to Carter rd.(about 8 miles total) That is the straights route. Crusher the FLa fields aren't good for shorts, if sliding you need softball pants or you will lose skin.

JB how is the drive down the 17 to 60(if ya know),or is it better just to go to I-4 and go down that way.
map quest says its 30-40 miles for me to the fields.
i'll be there tues afternoon/nite so i guess i'll have to do some scouting, gonna go wed and thurs for the things that are going on so i guess i can try it.

yes i don't mind driving, hell my closest senior tourney(dallas) is at least 150 miles 1 way for me to drive to.

That is a good route will keep you over I-4 and the morning drive to Tampa area. Bartow will be the only town that you will go thru but shouldn't be a problem. Stay off I-4 early in morning.

doker, mmm $18 a nite vs $43,sleep is over rated anyways LOL.. my total bill is around $200 for the 9 days, otherwise it'll be closer to $300 or more.i'm approx an hour from the park, and less for all the other venues.actually 56 miles coming down thru winter haven right past diamond plex park.i don't mind the drive not that bad compared to some i have to do around here.league is a minimum of 30 miles for me here,to the 2 parks i play at.

MAD DOG- there will be 6 or 7 of our team arriving approx 11:50 am via american airlines on thur feb 10th. dont know if we can possibly make the mini-tournament, but there is a good chance we can be there by 1 pm if we all make the effort, then proceed to the hotels afterward. listen, we will be about 15 miles from the park, if game time permits, you can hang out with us at the hotel. i will be with dresser, kinsel, smizer and aaron.
