snow and the TOC
This is for my buddy DieHard (Greg). It is official that I will not be going to the TOC for 2011. I have just spent 2 hours shoveling snow which I managed to avoid all last winter. I had to rest for the TOC in 2010. I could not pull it of this year. There is always next year. Thanks Harry

Good you did the shoveling and not Terri. Sorry you and your team will not be at the TOC. Hope we get no more snow so we can go.

MOVE the TOC to November so all team can be ready and the WINTER T's to the winter (February). Thanks Ross

Ross, I was trying to help you guys out this year if needed. Terri did not like the idea of me leaving her alone in Va for Valentine's day weekend so I did not push the subject. I do know where by bread is buttered. Good luck to both of your teams. Thanks Harry

Hey Harry, I guess if you're not going it's ok to shovel. LOL Well, as of now we are still going, sorry that you guys aren't. I always enjoy talking to you. We will be short at least 1 player, but if we get snow around our departure date, that may change. It's hard for us to keep in shape enough to play in the TOC, as much as I enjoy it (3rd year in a row)I may make this my last one! Just to eliminate the worry of whether we'll have a team to compete. I'm with you Ross, move the TOC to November!!!!!

Greg, I tried to get on your roster if you guys where short players but Terri nixed that idea. After the Force decide not to go, we planned to go to Cape Coral Fla. on the first of March. Too many vacation days and too much cost.Good luck to you guys and I hope the weather co-operates. Thanks Harry

Harry, After the horrendous weather at last year's TOC, we're staying home and working out by shoveling as well. Hope to see you in the spring or summer...more buckets! Mel

Wow, Cape Coral in March, sounds nice Harry! I think Terri got the better end of that deal. Hey Mel, I've been doing the same workout these past few days!

Guys-we lose our venue for Western Winter Worlds if they move the TOC to Nov. and Worlds to Feb. Las Vegas is way too cold to hold a tourney in Feb. They do have average highs around 60 and average lows around 40, but all through Feb the record lows are in the teens to low 20's and it would be quite a risk to schedule a major tourney during that time. Living in the west, I can tell you that the weather is very iffy this time of year, ranging from great to miserably cold and snowy. We would probably end up going back to Phoenix.

Greg, I agree that Terri got the better end of that deal, I just hope she takes Harry with her. :>) The shoveling workout is getting old. Spring is just around the corner, I hope. Regards, Mel

mad dog-I do enjoy playing in Phoenix, but we do that 3 or 4 times a year already- we even played last weekend there. Maybe they could move it to Australia-it is summer there.
Believe me-the staff has wrestled a lot with this schedule, as to how to set it up.

"If you build it... They will come" Well we built it! On Feb 19th we are one year old. All we need now is the "They will come" part. If you Snow Birds want to play softball in Winter all you have to do is get here. One only needs to watch the Rose Bowl and the NHRA Drag Racing Winter Nationals to know how nice the weather is here. Jan 22-23 was the most beautiful weather to play softball ever. 75 degrees, clear and no wind. The fields are nestled in a valley where the snow caped mountains are in plain view. As Ernie Banks once said "Its a great day for baseball, let's play two" We'll it was so gorgeous that Saturday we played 3 :O) I know a lot of So Cal Teams that would like the added competition. Call me and I'll help you make reservations :O)

We have been through this before, it is ridiculous that a 2011 event is played in 2010 and a 2010 event is played in 2011. The brass has their reasons which have been discussed. How many people have even touched a bat in three months? Maybe play the TOC in Vegas and dump the winter worlds all together. We would go to that.

i am sure that SSUSA is reading all. i am also sure that they have contracts with the cities involved.

i also think that most every player going to the TOC has picked up a bat and glove since november. we have been playing in-door for a month now. i have been going to planet fitness also for a month. i hope everyone has a great week in lakeland. dont miss the banquet at the museum of flight. "awesome". just my 2c.

thanks, ken

kbl, some people don't have the indoor facility's to use,so they don't get to pick up a bat till TOC.run the TOC in vegas or fl in nov(alternate each year) and have the winters in jan/feb,west could be in socal and east in fl,just makes more sense to have a tournament of champions the year they win their title and berth to go to it.
