For All the Fat/Slow/Lazy Catchers & EH's
Wrote us a song; sing it to the tune of the Old Gospel Song Amazing Grace!!

Amazing "Pace" is a Pipe Dream
I'm Fat & Slow & La.........zy
I wish I'd been born a Fast Greyhound
But was a St. Bernard, you see!!

I'll be a Hamhock ALL my Life
Mom ate lots, Dad ate Fast!!
When I run the bases in SSB
I always come in LAST!!!

Thru many insults I've been "Snared"
I never let it affect me!!
But now the Position Thread has "Hit"
Found, that I'm Useless as can BE!!!

When I go to tourneys, I do my best
To get my BIG BUTT on First Base
But Slow & Fat & Lazy's No Good
A CR takes my place!!!

All together w/some Tenor, Bass & Alto, repeat the Last stanza & HOLD IT FOR A WHILE........
A CR TAKES MY PLAAAAAAAACCCCCCEEEE!!!!

Now for the finality:
AAAAAAAAAMMNMMMMMEEEEEENNNNNNN!!!

ALL IN FUN GUYS

Bravo, Maestro Tater and a hearty Amen! We need to get together and sing it for everyone. I sing lead or second tenor in our choir. Hey, I actually penned a little ditty about Bible Study to the tune of "Elvira" and actually got our our church choir to sing it in an a.m. service along with a quartet out front leading the way.
I think Ridge should let us sing it at the nationals in Dalton!

Southpaw, didn't someone have the smarts to put that memorable occasion on YouTube? I'd sure love to see it.

Reminds me of the time I formed and sang bass with the Bluewood Brothers Quartet. One performance only. All of us dressed in blue blazers. Non-piano playing player at the piano practiced and did some warm-up riffs. I had the sound man alter my mike so I spoke in a real deep voice to introduce the group. And we blew the ceiling off that Sunday evening! Were asked for an encore and sang another gospel tune as well.

The time-consuming thing was Saturday practice where we worked three hours to lip-synch to two Blackwood Brothers numbers, Great fun...but before YouTube.

Omar: Blackwoods; Statesman; Rambos; Goodmans; Good old Gospel Music.

Ever hear of the Fairfield Four? They were at the aft end of the Movie, O Brother Where Art Thou; dressed in overalls. Good vocals; awesome!!

That was great. It helps us to remember what Senior Softball is all about. Being able to still play this game. We all have aged differently some have had accidents where we don't have full use of some body parts but we still play this game we love. We all can't be Major plus players

I have to admit, when I sangg the line about the position thread, I felt a little guilty, but by the time I sang,
"A CR TAKES MY PLAAAAAAACCCCCCEEEE!!!!" I was glad my thread resulted in a possible #1 smash hit.
Now if I can only figure out how to get it on my IPOD.

Tater, I know and have records of all those groups except the Fairfield Four. I'll have to view the film and watch for them. Not much gospel music out in California, especially quartets.

Tater, when will you be in Bham? You bring it, we will sing it!
Omar, I think it was recorded and is probably on our church website, not totally sure though. I will have to check with our our music minister about that. We had about 70 in the choir that morning and in the grand finaly we all donned sunglasses with our choir robes.
FoFo, it was indeed a serendipitous moment--inspiration when we do not even know it.

BHam; here I come!!
Steve: Print out the words & practice; I can sing any part; we will get together & crank this one out.
Guys bring your recording devices cause I got a gut feeling that this is going to be a smash!! We may need a CR to run for refreshments & a box of chicken between stanzas!!

Omar: Fairfield Four; Old guys that have sang together for years; most of the time they sing acapello.
