Daydreaming
Just sitting here in Indy with icy roads and cold weather. All the schools are closed and we have another ice/snow storm coming this evening. Thinking wistfully about better weather so we can get back to playing ball and having a cold one with friends. HURRY UP SPRING!

I live in the SW suburbs of Chicago and on a lake. I was just sitting at my computer and looking out at my bird feeders. Nice day. 30 seconds later full blizzard. Can hardly see them now.

lemons.we had the ice storm 2 years ago and were without power for 13 days.so my advise is to get you a generater and plenty off fuel before it hits.SERIOUS

Here in OKC we've got about 8 inches of snow on the ground and the wind chill is about 20 below. We've got some serious wind and some pretty good drifts. Just last Thursday, it was around 70 and we were out hitting in the afternoon. Can't wait for Spring!

tg69 I've never been in weather like that. When you were without power for that long how did you stay warm and how do you keep your water pipes from freezing

Don't know what tg69 did, but the secret is to open every faucet in the house to a decent drip and leave the water running. Water bill might be a little high that month but you won't have a flood. Big $$$$$$$

We have no temperature here in albuquerque-zero-and colder tonight-6-10 below which is very unusual for us plus 7 inches of snow and 25-30 mph winds for a wind chill of 23 below. It happens about every 20 years here. Think I will pull out my new Reebok Melee and see how many cuts I get before it chrystallizes. Groundhog probably won't even stick his head out this morning!!

Dbax, Now you're just showin' off. We got more sleet and ice last night and when I was picking up the paper in my driveway, I slid all the way to the end. Thank goodness that, in spite of other injuries, I still have a sense of balance........at least physically. :>)

Leroy, fortunatly the temp.stayed in the upper 20s but we have a wood stove in our basement just for emergencies like that.Had a generater and kept the frig.running and would plug up the deep freezes a couple times a day.We even cooked on the wood stove.Sorta like being on a camping trip at home. Some folks were out of power for 20 days so i guess we were lucky.

Dropping to 20 below tonight but will get up to mid 30's tomorrow. Maybe some good skiing after this snow we got. Hope all you guys in that warm weather enjoy while you got it.

DALLAS,TX WEATHER REPORT- got to 13 deg last night, all day today ( wed ), about 22 deg. thank god i am retired. ice all over the roads, i made an attempt to drive out of my driveway, saw the ice on the street and chickened out. stuck the car back in the garage, and drove my DIXON 50" CUT lawn mower to the corner store for the newspaper and goodies for the grand - kids. only problem i had was freezing my face off . unfortunately, we get a replay tonite and all day tomorrow. looking forward to the TOC next week, hope the weather stays in the 60-70's out there. frank a dallas spurs 60's

Albuquerque-6 below right now and a wind chill of 20 below. I guess we will call off practice for the TOC today.

Dbax-was wondering if we had played you-think we did a couple years ago in Tucson. Didn't you double dip us in a tournament there?

I don't think Dbax will be wearing his shorts to work today. My running fountain froze over last night. The PGA golf tournament pro am was cancelled yesterday due to frozen course. Our softball games for today were cancelled - frozen fields. Yes this is all in Phoenix

We have actually had a natural gas crisis-shortage-in NM over this. 34,000 homes were cut off because of low pressure in the gas lines. Almost every reporting station in the whole state was below zero Wed. night and a place just outside Angel Fire in the northern mountains hit -46 air temp and over -50 wind chill. Even Moriarty-about 40 miles from Albuquerque, but on the East side of the Mountains here hit -34. This hasn't happened here but twice in 50 years (1990 and 1971).Florida here we come!!

Just the thing. More snow on top of the ice today. As the popular prayer says, "God give me patience, and give it to me now!" Spring will be here eventually.

Well Mel...remember when we would play in the Q95 (local radio) snowball softball tournaments. Played in snowmobile suits and boots. Good Large pockets for a little anti freeze. Hit the ball in the snow and let the fielders try to find it, while ya waddled to base like an eskimo......those were the days....glad I got over that.

I can't help but feel sorry for all of you guys that are snowed in. Here in SoCal it's been 70 -75 for a couple weeks, with a low 60- high 50 day here & there. Before that it was 80 for a week. Been a mild winter so far. No major earthquakes in my area in over 1200 days either. Flying out tommorrow morning for the TOC. Staying @ Disneyworld for a few days before the TOC.
