Exemption rule?
What are the players hearing about the one player exemption rule being reinstated for 2006?

USSSA currently uses it and 1 player from anywhere is allowed on your team.
According to USSSA he can not currently be on the USSSA Major player list or be on a USSSA qualified team higher then the B level.
This is long over due in Senior Softball as a whole and would eliminate the need for the so called Snow bird rule which has been taken advantage of for long enough.
You get 1 player from anywhere and we get 1 player from anywhere and it is as fair and even a deal as can be.
Yes it would finally get a guy with no team in his region like Bruce Walker a chance to play again.
Thia can be named the Bring Back Bruce Walker Rule.
Hope that helps.
Thanks

It like Mike said only in USSSA I think all other organizations will still the same. I know that Ridge ask me to sit in and help on the Snowbird rule. But I think the all players should have a chance to play somewhere for someone, Our friend like Bruce needs a place to play. I am going to bring up that Major and Major Plus should be allow to pickup one player then freeze him so he can not play with any other team in that age group. What do you think about that?

That is fair enough and would be the right thing to freeze them to that 1 team for the whole year.

IMO

Not that my vote counts but I am debating putting a team together next year and it would sure be nice to reconnect with a best friend and include them in whatever I decide. I would welcome the ability to include one person per team as an exemption.

I think if a player wants to play bad enough to be pickup he should stay with them and not go mid-season to another. If Bruce wanted to play for Kelly's he needs to stay with them for the year, not go to play with Old South half way through the season. It would stop all of the team hopping unless the rules in that Organization allow him (like USSSA) I just hoping there is a way for more people to play in Major and Major plus.

As a player who is retired by the rules as they stand now I would be all for naming one team and then being frozen on that team for the year.

I believe that the way with 99% of the players that plays senior ball they start and finish with one team. with this exemption rule it just allows players a chance to play.

this would be great. all of the assosiations need to add the on exemption to each team. this would stop the bickering and the the teams go out and play softball like it was suppose to be played.
thanks,

Based on what i have read here, USSSA has and will have an exemption rule again in 2006 but none of the other senior associtions have one in place for 2006? or will this be included with the opening of the Calif and Florida borders in 2006?

I agree with MK & the others here that the Major + level should be able to pickup 1 player from anywhere in the country. It may help to get more teams to play the Major + level.
