March 4, 2011 JBTexas Men's 70 434 posts | Mad dog, any chance they will have a 40 division. Sorry AC Legends(60) don't have room for another association to play in, SPA and SSUSA will keep us busy. |
March 4, 2011 Capt Kirk 541 posts | Mad Dog, I believe that NSA State Championship will be Conroe, TX. I don't know if the NSA Nationals will be played in Texas. We may play in a NSA qualifier later this year, but we have committed to play in mostly SSUSA Tournaments. We will be playing in Austin on April 16th at Krieg Field, there is a one (1) day tournament hosted by Chris Villareal & co. |
March 4, 2011 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | capt kirk, that might be,but i thought i saw that the nationals were gonna be there, will have to go check now, dang you. JBT don't know, fidel is running it,might check with him. we are gonna play ssusa and spa also, but are looking to chop a little travel off our schedule and the usssa tourney's will do that for us,we will have to use usssa bats, but hey we will e playing,so that is all that matters. |
March 4, 2011 misty23 Women's 40 12 posts | Sorry Mad Dog but the NSA web site still show rotten old North Alabama. Not sure the link will make but here it is: http://www.playnsa.com/uploads/Speciality%20Program%20WS%20%20Locations.pdf |
March 4, 2011 bulldawglost Men's 60 27 posts | Copy the address and paste in your browser and it comes up. Yep, it show Boaz & Gadsden, AL. as the sites. |
March 4, 2011 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | thanks misty,i just prolly misread where the nationals were gonna be held.oh well at least we will get 2 tourneys in,maybe we might try and go over there for nationals, will ask coach and see if it will conflict with any of our other tourney's. |
March 4, 2011 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | yep looks like gadsen,al for the 60's,22-24 july |
March 5, 2011 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | well,the 20% chance of rain turn into 100% at 42 degrees.dang it. |
March 5, 2011 oneofeleven18 Men's 50 57 posts | Dog: Isn't NSA the worse Nationals to play in? Boaz's fields are good but Gadsden is the pits. It has dwindled down to a small number of teams. I could understand cutting back on expenses and skipping NSA. |
March 5, 2011 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | 1 0f 11,i have never been to the NSA nationals,we are just doing these locals so we can get some playing time in.prolly won't end up going to AL. |
March 5, 2011 TexasTransplant Men's 70 516 posts | The fields in Gadsden are old, but are generally in pretty good shape and they do a good job of prepping them. We have had very limited success in finding good places to stay in Gadsden. The turnout generally is fairly limited, mostly teams from the southeast. In past years, NSA has not allowed senior bats at this tournament; I don't know if that will still be true this year. |
March 5, 2011 armiho211 Men's 70 449 posts | mad dog- i left dallas to play with with a 65 major plus team at 6:00am, as i was getting to the mcmaster park in georgetown, 3 -4 teams decided not to play due to rain, 30-35 mph winds and what felt like 25 deg . we had a 1 hr delay to start, but by noon the clouds were gone, the winds stayed the same, temp may have peaked at 55 deg. and the fields dried pretty fast. we ended up playing against the 50's group , not sure of the ratings, but we had fun. we ended up 1 and 3, the young guys were just too fast, great arms and pretty good power. giving up 15 to 20 yrs in age is tough. BUT we just couldnt see driving 200 miles to give up, a couple of the boys drove down from oklahoma. frank a. |
March 6, 2011 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | frankie, the 9 am teams prolly were the most that decided not to play,us(spurs) and tanel 60's were 2 teams that i know didn't stay.it was raining pretty good and being that cold(it was 38 on my truck gauge) we decided not to wait.did you play with LL and his group.when did ya's finish up. |
March 6, 2011 DoubleL10 Men's 70 907 posts | mad dog, To answer your question, yes, Frankie played with us and did a great job for us! We had a good time (once we thawed out) and the weather turned out to be decent. The wind did blow all day but it was not terrible. We played Romo's Old School 50s and Austin Rock 50s. I know Rock is rated Major. The 15-year spot was just too much with the speed and arm differential. We hit the ball pretty well but had to run down a lot of shots in the outfield. We will be going back in April and, hopefully, play some 60s teams. |
