ASA National Council Meeting, who's going?
I understand there are several proposed changes on the agenda that will affect senior softball directly that we need to step up and say something about.

1. Senior softball division only, strike zone mat to be implemented in ASA...

2. Pitching distance to 53', bases to 70' for all divisions.

3. Mitt or glove legal for use anywhere on the field.

4. Ball to go to 44 core/525 compression. I think this would probably settle a lot of the bat questions. Personally, I'll give up my U2 in order to hit a better line of ball all the time.

Step up and have your say...

I haven't been able to find a posting if there is one anywhere. Just happened to be in the players rep's office last night reading over their shoulder. Those are the ones that stick out in my mind. On a number of occasions, they cited getting more in line with the other senior softball associations as the justification.

Get in touch with your local representative. If you don't know who that is go to www.softball.org which is ASA's website and look up the local representative. They will have phone number, email address, and snail mail address listed.

It is my fervent hope that the ASA dis -associates itself from Senior Softball completely. I also hope that ISSA and the SSWS drop their affliation with the ASA and at least adopt the bat and ball standards of the SPA, if not the SSUSA and LVSSA.

The ASA has never given a rat's rear end about Senior Softball and never will. and I could care less what changes they make. It's too little too late as far as I'm concerned!

U R completely right, Gary. To hell w/ ASA. I want to c a man or women that can swing a bat @ 90 MPH, hit a softball, & the bats' speed is still 90 MPH, after hitting a softball.
In most test, a players bat speed slows down to 76 to 69 MPH, after hitt' a softball. How about all of ASA's stupid rules. 1 & 1 count; after the 2nd strike, it must be fair unless one swung @ the 2nd strike. Over the limit in HOME RUNS, is an out & in some cases, ends the ending. Only the CAOCH or MANAGER, can talk to the umpire....... There r many more.
SOLUTION: Seniors, do not play ASA; PERIOD......

Stoneman:
I somewhat have to disagree but only about my area.
I have and still will do ASA ONLY because I have an agreement that allows the use of the U-2 , 5 games, one up rule, good balls, I use 47\525, until I run out, & an O\O count .
OTHERWISE, YES, you are correct.
Sorry we couldn't connect in Vegas.

Stoneman, why does everything have to be just one way for you. Either it's the way you think it should be or it's all bad. You're giving some of us a headache by beating dead horses. Let up, pay attention a little bit, and moderate the volume level. No one's really out to get you, specifically.

BUST MY BUTTBANDIT: All ASA is try' to do is slow the game down. ASA, will not do any LVSSA events. Some of Nv.'s ASA umps, sued LVSSA, & lost. This is why, LVSSA, had to use
NSA in 2004. No great balls & no U-2's.
NSA... Marty, hates SENIORS & Terry. PERIOD.
Hav' to be One way? Is being trueful, respectful, listen' to seniors, etc. one way? Rudness, is still rudness. Threats R still threads.
Beat' dead horses. U can quit, but, I won't!! In 2003, @ St. George, a NSA UIC, from another state, informed Don Norquist, that if, I did not stop writting questions, stop asking 4 data, etc, that NSA & ASA would band me from all of softball. YES, all..... No league, no state. no national, & no worlds. No, I do not smell lemonaid......
Let up, pay attention? WHY, should I or anyone in NEVADA?
I am tired of the b.s., & the insults. This may & is more than likely just another smoke screen. What have ASA's track record been the lasrtseveral yrs? ASA, is changing hores in the middle of a river..... Go ASA>>>>
No, thanks, I like the volume. I think, that my small brain, may have gotten some one else to think????
No one is out to get me..... thanks. I feel so safe, now...Can I go back into the water, daddy?
How about I tell u what to do? how to play? what to do? learn the game? hit to right field? don't hit hot balls? don't use cheater bats? After all, umps know it all!! Part of ump' is to tell grown men how to have fun..... what to do...... & how one should play softball.... Just ask Jerry & Marty.
Yes, this is some of the crap that not only Seniors, but, league players in Vegas r told by, ASA & NSA umps...

Have fun, I do!! I just hit w/ my friends & help some of my friends teams out, once in awhile. U can get insulted & put up w/ ASA & NSA. I speak 4 many players & I have more fun not play' ASA or NSA.
DOES THE TRUTH HURT??????

Stoneman, you don't understand what I'm saying...If the players in Nevada have a problem with the major sanctioning bodies, then form your own. When the sanctioning bodies see that you can draw significant numbers, then you contract with them. If you don't like their rules, change them. Play under ISA(or whoever) rules with modifications as per the Busted Butt Softball Assoc. They will accept that if you can throw a major program at them. ISA calls 6-12 foot pitching arc in Florida for the Florida Half Century, why? They wanted to get that 80-120 teams in a tournament once a month to bring in additional revenue.

I hate people who can identify problems but never bother to suggest an alternative or a solution.

Play ball.

B.BANDIT.. The older players have formed LVSSA. The younger players do not seem to have the ....... to form another assoc.'
This is a small state, less than 2 1/2 M. This city has 2-3 persons that run the umps. ISA- is train' new & younger umps (Lance & Joey r do' a great job). ISA, NSA, & U-TRIP, all use the same umps in most cases. Marty & Tom, will not let their umps do NASF events, & so, on...
Our diff.' city leagues, can change some rules, but, then these hand full of umps, change or try & rule over the diff.' city directors.
EXAMPLE: No MUDKATTS or extra tape on the handle; this is not a B league, so, no 8 home runs, only 3, then inning end' out;
no 0-0 count & no pitch to waste;
ump's dur' league & tournaments insult teams & players yr. after yr;
ump's that will tell players how to dress & even though the city say no, to a dress code; many more...
Glade u hate me & my solution, is not to play ASA or NSA. After all, I tried writting to ASA, NSA, ISA, & U-TRIP, what did I get, a threat of LIFE TIME BAND from the major assoc.'
Again, I want to c the person that can swing a wooden bat 90 MPH & hit a softball & this persons bat speed, after contact is still 90 MPH. 70' bases, for the 65, 70, 75, & 80 yr. old men. Even for the 45's, this will mean less scoring. But, what do I know? ASA, started this mess & will not change unless players stop play' in ASA or NSA events. Is this not a solution? By the way, B.B., what is yer diff.' of 'a' solution?

Have fun & play yer style of BALL.
