Southern Championships in Birmingham, Alabama
Hope it is not too early to be asking. Just wondering who will participate in Birmingham in August.

I am sure that all the Alabama teams will be present. Our team, Strykers, certainly will be there. Wondering about all age groups, but especially 60/over.

Tater, good to see that you have come out of your man-cave and started sharing your insights on the message board again. Tom, how is your pitcher doing?

Tom, Did the entire ISA World get cancelled? We had planned on going (Guru 65M+) but no one from ISA would tell us if there would be anyone to play. Glad we didn't waste the money although I would have enjoyed the beach!

LL, we finished pool play today, Friday. In the "50 Major", The Boyz of Summer ended up being number 1 seed, Hendrick's number two.
Hendrick's is 55 major plus and Rose Enterprises are 60 major plus. I believe that I heard that Hollis was moved up to 50 major plus.
The Boyz were the only team that went 2-0.
The fences on our two fields were over 300. I heard 310 and 325. Don't know which is correct. Balls are AD Starr Tatoos, not real good. The hr rule for us is 5 and then an out. I believe we had 4 hrs in our game with Rose Ent.

bruce the starr balls not that good ???? which ones were they. ISA i know is a 44-375 ball spec (and they did allow the MCT type ball at one time),not sure if they still do,and ya got to keep those non MCT balls out of the heat, just like stotes.

good luck for the rest of the tourney.

BruceinGA, Please keep us posted. Have you heard/seen anything about the 65s? I'd like to know what we missed by not attending - if anything. We are rated 65 M+. Are there any 60 Major teams?

LL, After we lost our second to Hendricks, I drove to Sradley Park to witness the Mn Masters (60m) defeat Sidelines and put them out.
We had defeated Rose Ent but they came back to eliminate Hollis.
Southpaw, sorry for the thread hyjack.

Bruce, I do not mind at all, as long as you don't bring up "bats and softballs". OOps, I just did!

I just thank GOD that I am not talented enough, gifted enough, agile enough, strong enough, smart enough, but at least old enough to have to settle for just playing AA/AAA.
But, at least I'm not a catcher!

Larry, sorry for not replying,my wife & I & grand childern spent the weekend on the Alabama river. The tournament wasn't canceled but only one other 60 major team entered,Minnisota Masters. We were told five teams had entered along with two more maybe's. Mr. Jackson offered full reinbursement which we accepted. How did Minnisota make out in the Tournament?

Bruce, How did they have the brackets set up in the 50s, 55s and 60s? Were Major and Major + (where they were entered) lumped together?

In our division we had 50M, 50M+, 55M+ and 60M+. Our team had to give Ed Rose Ent (60M+) 3 runs and we played Hendricks (55M+) even. We didn't play Hollis (50M+) but heard they had to give 5 runs to 50m teams.
I heard that The Renagades (Morgan Keegan) placed 1st and Ed Rose Ent took second.
At Stradley Park, I saw the Mn Masters (60M) play Sidelines 55AAA. This was a looser's bracket game. I don't know what other age groups were in their bracket.

Bruce, Thanks for the information. I have no idea where they would have stuck our 65 Major Plus team but it looks like we, too, would have been lumped in with other, younger, ages. As much as I (and the wife) wanted to go to Cocoa Beach, I'm glad we didn't.
