LETS FIX THE BOTTOM!!!
I think if you guys in AA and AAA would go out and work on your game as much as the M and M+ guys do then we would have more competition in all divisions and all teams would be better not worse or watered down or whatever other term you want to use. Quit crying about how much better they are than you and go do the work necessary to become better!!!

Everyone has a natural ceiling, no matter how hard they work, but there is a lot of merit to what he said.

The senior motto seems to be "let's not work to get better, but just complain when they won't let us play down."

And that ceiling is ability, not everyone has the ability to get THAT much better.
The only crying I ever hear on here is from the upper division, about playing 2 or 3 team tourneys. Quit crying, you are the elite of our sport, be happy you are in that class and have that ability.

BB, is this tongue in cheek, or are you really serious?! You have jumped to a lot of conclusions and/or assumptions. Don't look behind you, but the politically correct police may be following!

southpaw I have never been accused of being politically correct , so why start now! All I know after watching this whinning website is that most everyone on here wants to bring the good teams down to their level, or never have to play them at all. I think that every team has a right to play in their age group, and if they happen to be the best then so be it. Playing against M+ teams as a M team is a challenge that most the teams I have played against would accept and play their best to win. Not sure the gripers and whinners on this website play for any of those teams, sure doesn't sound like it.

E4/E6 that is exactly why the bottom needs to get better, move up and take pride in getting better. Top AAA teams can play with most M teams maybe not all teams but neither can lower AAA teams play with Top AAA teams. There is always going to be
better and worse teams, just go play!!!

batbreaker, you are right per say,but how can you make someone who is not athletically endowed better.all the training in the world(i site the diff between you and me,no matter what i do,i'll never catch up to you)will not make them a top player,or we all would be playing at the top, whether it be senior softball or pro sports.just doesn't happen.sounds like a good idea, but hey not everyone has a gift to be able to play.
now about the playing up or down, thats another subject and i can't help where someone wants to play, but do see the sandbagging a lot that everyone talks about.a good AAA can play some in M but rarely are they gonna win some big tourney unless everything falls into place for them, the better teams having bad days and they having the games of their lives.just saying.....

Batbreaker Interesting comment. This is my 47th year in softball, at times world class teams. Haven't seen many M and M+ or great USSSA teams that just got good by practicing. The vast majority were made up of hand picked players from a variety of teams with high levels of ability. Been at dozens of tournies in senior ball and overheard managers talking about who they were going to try and steal from another team. My team is a 65AA just got moved up Why ??? We will go out and play hard in AAA and see what happens. Past experience has seen the better AAAs pound us and have had some success at the AA level. Our guys all work out the best they can and play 4-6 games a week in various leagues. Your theory about practicing even harder for us is slightly hampered by 5 guys who have had heart bypass surgery, one with two metal rods holding his leg together, one guy with a metal hip, several knee replacements, one with recent rotator cuff surgery, one recent anurism surgery and several dozen other operations. Would really like to be alive when you and your teammates are all 66-71 years old and see what brovado you might have then.

gary h, right on. The Major + teams that I am most familiar with are constantly shuffling their roster to add superior athletes and drop marginal athletes or just those who are injured or starting to fail physically.

These are super athletes. They're fun to watch. One admires their ability for their age. But they are not great from conditioning or instruction. They are naturally strong and quick athletes, they are about 4 to 6 inches taller than the competition, and they supplement their superior physical ability with decades of playing softball at a high level.

Your team is typical of AA or most AAA teams. You obviously play for the camaraderie first, then the competition. All the workouts and gym time in the world will not overcome the serious physical disabilities your team has, and your regular non-tournament play indicates that there is not much more room to improve through more play. Nope, you're a typical team for your bracket, and you will never become a Major team. Good for you! Love to play against your team sometime, but it doesn't have to be your team specifically. Teams like yours are the backbone of senior softball.

Bat Breaker,
There are lots of players to recruit and make even the AA or AAA teams better. But all the practicing and recruiting in the world won't overcome an obvious barrier that you completely forgot....it's always about money.

You completely forgot about the disparity in CASH that M or M+ teams have to spend, and just like going to the grocery store, you can buy what your budget will allow.

All the swings in the world won't change that.
