And the ? is why?
After looking at the 55 mens bracket its a joke.
5 teams are AAA which is fine, but to put a 60 major, 55 major and a 50 AA in to make it a 8 team bracket, come on.
the 60 major team has a 55 major team I guessing they will combine & will load that roster up. The 55 major & 50 AA teams are stuck in limbo no other teams in that divison coming to play.

The 60 team show be combined with the 7 team 60 AAA division making it an 8 team bracket.

No problem with the 55 major or 50 AA team in the AAA bracket making it a 7 team bracket.

It would be understandable if teams were traveling from out of state to combine in this fashion.

No need to guess why everyone went to the SPA event or just declined to come.

If there isn't enough teams for a bracket then don't have the bracket. Return the entry fees. It's sad but keep the playing field honest and level. IJS

Seven of the eight teams in the 55+ Bracket have the SAME "Rating Index" value of six. This resulted in a larger, competitively balanced bracket (a topic of frequent comment here lately!) with a MINIMUM of equalizer required games. The only team not in that R/I group is No Dice (R/I=7), who remained in the tournament to get additional players qualified for their Phoenix World Championships roster. They will GIVE a 5-Run OR 11-Defensive-Player equalizer in all of their games.
_________

TEAM RATING INDEX VALUE CHART

R/I
10 • 40-M+
9 • 40-M / 50-M+
8 • 40-AAA / 50-M / 55-M+
7 • 50-AAA / 55-M / 60-M+
6 • 50-AA / 55-AAA / 60-M / 65-M+
5 • 55-AA / 60-AAA / 65-M / 70-M+
4 • 60-AA / 65-AAA / 70-M
3 • 65-AA / 70-AAA / 75-M
2 • 70-AA / 75-AAA / 80-M
1 • 80-AAA

hitt2, If they are going to have so many age groups and divisions they have to have some kind of rating system when there are not enough teams in these little tournaments ... which is most of the time. If they had 6 age groups (instead of 8) and 3 divisions (instead of 4) combining teams would not be as big a issue.

SSUSA staff, I have yet to see any 40+ team of any level be weaker than any 50+ or team. 10 to 15 years is a HUGE difference at that age.

40 AAA should be equal to 50 Major-plus, but then you can't put 40 AAA in with 40 Major. Maybe put 40 Major at 10 and give 40 Major-plus an 11, how many of those teams are there, one or two?

The 11 defensive player equalizer should come into play ANYTIME any older team plays any younger team. Then the equalizer choice would be if the lower team wants the runs OR their HR rule.

Rating index doesn’t think it is a tool which promotes a level field of play.
I don't like the 11 player rule in the under 60 brackets ruins the game.
I agree there are too many Divison.
This would be my suggestion to solve the issue
40+ major & major+ no state boundaries
AAA state boundaries
50 Major-Major+ no state boundaries
AAA & AA state boundaries
55 Major-Major+ no state boundaries
AAA & AA state boundaries
60 Major & Major+ no state boundaries
combine divisions
AAA & AA state boundaries
65 Major & Major+ no state boundaries combine division
AAA-AA state boundaries
70 Major & Major+ combined both-
AAA- no state boundaries
AA state boundaries
If a team is winning then the rules for being moved up apply & would allow players available from teams that yearly disband to be picked up. Thus keeping the level of play competitive
I know I'm going to get blasted for this, but I'd rather keep playing NCSSA in the backyard tourneys at a lesser fee in mixed divisions, versus playing in SSUSA national events with present entry fee in mixed divisions. I understand the money thing, but the integrity of the game also needs to be maintained in each division of play for national events. jmo
