Bill has not answered my last two emails. Since my computer died 3 weeks ago I lost all of the people on the wait list. I will no longer maintain a wait list on my site. Bill I know you read this board so I'd appreciate a return email or at least phone call on my email request!

We just started field testing units from the production line. It is slow process with many small adjustments along the way. We are planning on having the bats fully ready for tournaments in January.

Thanks,
Bill

Bill,
Congrats on the progress. I know what you have been up against not to mention seniors that are "anxious" and have nothing going on during "off season". Manufacturing composites is never easy.

I ordered and paid for a new GBA on September 13, 2010. I was hoping to have the bat for the Winter Nationals in Fort Myers that November, but I guess I missed the cut on the GBA's that were produced and distributed. During the course of the 2011 season I broke 2 bats and replaced them after I couldn't wait any longer.

Living in Chicagoland I won't be playing any outdoor softball until April, so delivery of the new Veteran Core is not as urgent. Waiting more than a year for any product bought and paid for would be outrageously unacceptable from any company that was not a small American outfit trying to make a competitive bat in a market dominated by big foreign manufacturers.

Bill,
I sincerely wish you success, and I hope my long wait and patience will have been worth it. I'm really looking forward to trying out the Veteran Core.

I have a couple favors to ask.

Please keep us posted on this board, and try to give us an idea of how the weights of your balanced & end loaded bats swing in comparison to Ultra2's of the same weight (or some other bat most of us are familiar with). I'd like to make sure I get a bat that feels right for me and won't have to return it for a model of a different weight. I understand your bat may feel different from other products out there, but buying a bat without swinging or hitting with it can be a very hit or miss proposition (pun intended).

Be as communicative as you can be. It will build trust and confidence with the players upon whom the success of your business venture ultimately depends.

We had a busy week working on the ASA model. Getting ready for lab and field testing. On the senior bat the programming is moving forward well and all indications lead to a successful launch at the Wounded Warrior/FCA game on Jan 14 in Florida.

Traditional production is to wrap bats by hand, however we use a computer based process run by a highly complex software program. This is the stage that is taking the longest amount of time and is something we have to rely on outside computer engineers to work on. We were very happy with the ASA and Senior field test last week and will have another round next week. We are in the final laps and thank all those involved for your patience and understanding.

i have hit the asa version.the weather was about 68 and we were hitting 44's.the bat was hitting like the original freak.the more we broke it in the farther it went.it had a nice feel to it and you could tell it was breaking in well.our team had about 400 swings on it in one day.played with in a league the next night and someone on our team got mad and threw it down on the astroturf ,it then bounced up and hit the backstop puting a crack in it.we broke it finally at the next practice.it was a 26or 27oz.i am a hitter who is not a bat fanatic.i use combats and ultas but this bat is as good or maybe is better then the original freak first batch.when i hit it i was the third batter so it only had about 40 swings.when i hit it good it was going between 290-310.i am not a power hitter.our bighitters were smashing it but they do that with any bat.i will definetly buy the asa model.

Please note that only the old GSC (made in China) have been hit. The CORE bat has only been hit in controlled field test. We have a group of players already lined up to help test the new CORE once production issues are finished. Remember that the prototype bats only let us know the concept would work. We now have to turn that concept into a product that can mass produced which is not an easy task. If we had to decided to copy the layup of other bats we would have been up and running many moons ago. To create a new concept, a new design and to hand make the tools to bring it to being has proved to be a major challenge, a task we have accept and work to complete.

Mr. Gates, Am wondering if that post on Mon. the 16th was what you were to post as an update to the status for production runs even if those are only for the "testers".
No mentioned as to how the field test went after the Dec 30 post on the test for that week.
I am very curious and my only concerns are for those that have invested in time and money into your endeavor, hoping for a good return on their investment or seed money as it were.

I have just spoken with Mr. McKinlay and he will not be posting on this board. He is the # 4 hitter on the Demolition 50 Major Plus team. I am sure of this that when the bats are ready that they will be worth the wait. I sent him an e-mail and he responded that same day and left a phone number ( his house #) I will just wait for my bat but I really do believe that it will be worth the wait. Thanks Harry

I looked at his web site again, it is a dud, noting new for 4 months now but said it would be coming... yea.
Saw this video on another site but didn't look impressive on bat.

http://softballbattinghelmets.net/new-veteran-gba-2-pc-senior-softball-bat/

Very few good shots, so is the the bat or the person hitting, lol

Found some Facebook and another site from this new voice for gates, but nothing impressive or of value there either. Both guys have their own Facebook sites.

Good luck guys on this but you'd all be dead if you were holding your breath for news on some good info.
Who knows you may still get it, but just keep breathing.

It seems that Bill has just been the voice of the company up an till a few weeks ago. My understanding that Steve McKinlay is the owner and is now running it all by himself. I was told that Bill will make sure that anyone due a replacement bat will get one. Not sure why Bill left but I wish Steve the best in getting this bat out. I don’t understand why Mckinlay would not come on here to give an update but I guess as the owner that is his call.
By the way that video from Taits is the old two piece. I had one and it was a good bat. Not a core bat.

You guys deserve more than lip service, & current "service" lacks worthy public relations, which will eventually catch up with whom ever is "running" the show.
Bill stated Steve you could email and call (see above post by gates24, so I'd go that route and let the others know where you & the bats are in this questionable process.
He had some kind a falling out with Rip It Sports after or during the yellow Senior Elite and black Senior bats they put out. Maybe he is just hard to work for or with which doesn't say much for character after this mess.
I honestly hope the "maker" of the Vet. Core bat comes through, whom ever it is.

Taits; get you facts right. Steve is the owner and boss of the GSC project and is doing a great job. Many will agree that Bill is a stand up guy and has worked for many bat companies as a consultant. No falling out’s at all.
I also know that the CORE is worth waiting for and this whole factory stuff is hard to do. You guys think that they can just snap fingers and this bat is going to appear. I am sure that Steve has worked his tail off to get this to market. By the way there are no presales that I know of. Just guys waiting for replacements from the old China bats and my heavens we are only talking about bat so let them wait.

Guys! relax, there is nothing wrong with the CORE. Overbudget and behind schedule is not a sin but the norm for making a new product, with new tooling and new designs. The bat is a major project in itself and tooling is even more of uphill climb.
Steve is on top the issues and is doing everything he can to move forward within a safe speed. There is no one waiting for this bat that is bent out of shape in the least. If they are then they need to call me or Steve direct, have a drink and relax.

First of all, thanks to garyaz for your response. Let me say, I could care less about personalities or conflicts; I am just interested in a bat. I agree that to bring a new product to market can be a difficult. I was involved with manufacturing products thousands of times more complicated than a bat, so I do understand the problems, especially for a new concept. Basically most of us guys have been pretty patient, we just would like info about how things are going. garyaz, you say that you know the CORE is worth waiting for, well how do you know? Have you swung one, have you even seen one. If you have any info, how about sharing. I too have high expectations, but I know that things don’t always work out as planed.

I know that CORE bats have been hit at South Mountain College and another university. Also from a group of seniors in the Chandler area. It think these are test bats and not finished products.
I have seen the CORE painted white with graphics but have not hit it.
I think a group in upstate NY is going to be field testing in a dome sometime soon.

I hope that you come on top and everything works for the best. This is a new bussiness and you need to make some new sales and make money....So please don't worry about sending my replacement even though I took advantage of the second bat for $99.00 deal that you guys had and I never received. Bottom line make your money and at sometime when you come out the red and if you still remember me you can then send me a bat. I have lost/wasted a lot more money on other stupid things...I wish you all the luck in the world.

Paco13, the first info I saw about this bat was on this site.
It sounded good.
Something I never read was "what did the CORE guys charge to pre-order a bat?"
What material would be lite enough to only weigh 28oz and be 34inches long and be solid?

Have a great year.

If you are like me, I want to see this company/bats succeed. I'm a "MadeInUSA" proponent. If part of the problem is also finances of a startup, Those who really want a bat could step up to the plate, like me, and offer to pay for a bat right now. Assuming the bat is around $200 and 100 of us stepped up, 20 Grand just might help.
