Barry-I had boot in San Diego 13 weeks-right across from the airport and one guy from our series went over the hill, climbed into the wheel well of an airplane and died on the way to Detroit. Or at least that is the legend.

Army, Ist Inf Div. 1/28th 11B. Salio2k, my base camp was Quan Loi, but never spent much time there. Tet-68 was happening. Never thought I'd run across any one else who had ever heard of Quan Loi. Glad you and all the rest made it back.

Gentlemen,
Let me say thank you to all of you that have responded and even to those who haven't responded. Your service to our country is extremely appreciated by myself and I'm sure many others. It's because of people like you all that I am able to live the life I do and to do the things that I do. Veterans Day and Memorial Day are two of the most imoportant and meaningful Holidays in my life.
I never had to serve in the military so I can't begin to know what any of you have gone through or what sacrifices you have made during that time. The men and women who serve and protect our freedom and liberty are often overlooked and not respected. To all our military personell past and present, please accept my heart felt thanks and God Bless America. Happy New Year.

Capt Kirk: I was in the Army stationed on Vung Tau mountain for 2 months helped build the barricks etc when I first got in country Oct. 1967. Was part of the 1st Signal Battalion - was then moved up to Saigon area work at Phu Plam signal base till Sept. 1968. Went through Tet in the Saigon area and that was not much fun.

Came out of Nam and was stationed in Ft Hood, Texas from 10/1968 till discharge 8/1969.

Loved and hated every minute of the Army but sure think it was an growing up experience for a young pup.

FreeAgent10,

I'm another Viet Vet from the Quan Loi basecamp. I was with the 1st Battalion, 2nd Infantry, 1st Infantry Division. I arrived in time for "Counter Tet" at the end of March 1968.
We patrolled between Anloc area and Cambodian Border most of the time.
Hope to run across you in a tourney someday. I'm Jeff Dye and am from the Sacramento, Cal area and will be playing with the Grumpie Old Men Majors this year. Also, thank you for you service.
