Ever wonder where or why poster leave or rarely post? I sure do.
A very short list of posters not seen in years....
Hot Rod...07
Oldbuck23...08
Floo56...08
T-rex...08
Mitch...09
BMoney...09
Desert Guy...09
Tooslow...09
SouthernLeather...09

Then there are
Stoneman...banned ?
einstein...banned..

And many who rarely post and yet others some, like myself, wish would no longer post.
Posters with valid info are a dying breed it seems.

Great question Taits.
Happy New Year to you and the family along with All the other ballplayers in Senior softball.
For me I will check in on the website read a few threads and see that the same individuals are spewing the same garbage, trying to be the big dog on the block, or feeling the need to be the internet guru.

I've found a few other softball sites that are more to my liking where info is shared, discussed and it is ok to disagree without having to deal with internet bullys or self determined softball experts. Don't get me wrong there are a lot of knowledgable players here discussing real issues. It's the butheads that cause other to move on. jmo

Not to mention these guys haven't figured out that if there is a thread or a post they don't like they are free to just skip it.

Steve,
It must be just that for about a half dozen on here but what ever trips your switch I guess.
For myself it's 1. Communicating with players I once competed against or played with. 2. Getting quality softball related information. 3. Relaying similar info as appropriate.

I have 'stirred the pot', but it's not a habit.
I look at it as quality vs quantity in posting. Works for me, but not always....

Gary19 since you cannot read between the lines it is you I try to work up---I would almost bet my life that is someone said the sky is blue you would attempt to show how much smarter you are than anyonje else and explain how it is really azure!!! Hopefully as you age you will grow up and realize you really are not nearly as smart as you think you are--no need for you to respond I am stupid and I know it---as for your line in last post that they can just skip it if they don't like it--don't you see how you dominate every thread--just my opinion

So you frequent appearances as a buffoon on here are just an act?

And truthfully, I really am.

I have told you before I am probably not at all on 90% of the threads here, so that last claim of yours is pretty incorrect. Or was that just you pretending to be a buffoon again?

taits I would like to communicate with players I have played against or with but this is not a conducive format to do so--I have asked a couple of guys questions on here and the thread got so skewed that they could not respond--that is why I listed my email so anyone wanting to communicate could do so--

taits, I read this almost every day here and there. I concur with you and hitt2. The problem with this and other boards are with those that thrive on cramming their ideals down everyone elses throat, instead of having an intelligent discussion and agreeing to disagree instead of allowing it to escalate as JT9 stated, into a pissing contest.

taits, interesting perspective. I didn't play senior softball until I was in my 60s and my ASA league team couldn't field enough guys after 50 years of playing with the same name (yes, I was older...by far, than the rest of the team—I played with my son, for example). Now I love senior softball and the tournament scene, but the idea of communicating with players I've played with or against in the past is not my experience. Other than einstein and a few other infrequent posters, I don't know any of the posters by personal conversation, so the idea of communication with them is fresh to me (but obvious as I reflect on it—think of mad dog and his many personal comments to other posters).

My interest in this site is to gain a sense of where senior softball is at, have discussions on what I think are the joys and challenges of our sport, find out helpful information on equipment (bought a new Combat, for example, because of info here), offer referrals and answers when I have some, and occasionally to go down memory lane and hear from men with similar life experiences. The recent thread on military experience, for example, was interesting to me although I am not a veteran. I read this message board almost every day.

This is the perfect example for my choice of not responding to the nitwits that hound this board.
I've posted in the past, hoping to add to some of the threads, and share information, to only have the threads dominated by a few dopes.
I would suggest that if the forum police can't block these guys, that another forum be used, or communicate directly, by email, with the people that you want to share info.
See you in another few years.......

This is a little more personal for me. To be honest, I've played softball with my head in the sand, so to speak, most of my career. I never got to know most of the people I played against, never knew a lot of what was going on in softball, especially after the 80's. This board has offered a chance to interact and 'meet', so to speak, a lot of new friends I wouldn't have met otherwise. I go to tournaments now looking forward to meeting guys. It has been fun-even tweaking Gary19 and Einstein when they are on.

Guys-many absolutely great points shared above. Especially returning this site to the game of SOFTALL. I for one will only (from now on)reply-give opinions-debate-support posts from actual SSUSA tournament members who actually play on the SSUSA tour or other sactioned associations. Actual tour players are the only ones who thoughts actually count and have value.

The Gary 19 and Steve65 threads above reason #1 why I don't bother anymore.

#2 - This sight is geared to the small elite group of tournament players and not the everyday rec players which is the vast majority of Senior players who could care less about tournament players.

#3 - Agree with Fabe. Too many personnel attacks which have nothing to do with the subject of the thread.

I agree with you on two points. I however don't feel this is a site geared to just the elite group of softball players. sure a majority play travel ball, but a good portion play in tourneys and also rec ball leagues & seniors. The focus of this site in the beginning I think was a forum for Senior ball players to sharing thought on the game, clairification of Senior rules, along with connecting teams to tournaments & players looking for team. The off shoot of this it also creates connection with other ball player from around the country & what goes on in the game in their local areas.
Until i started playing senior ball I was like webbie i didn't care about my opponents or connections, but as we get older our prospectives change. I met several indidivuals on this site and have a face to go with the name. Its nice seeing them at tournaments and talking & having a beer. Winning is great, repecting the game & fellow players is paramount.

Good morning everyone,
I'm one of the ones that does not post that often and the reason is -- there are certin people that can't wait to let you know that you do not know as much about the topic as they do. I enjoy playing softbal and i would really enjoy having the chance to meet more of you if we are at tournaments together. This is why i always put my name and team at the bottom of each post. I will continue to read the posts because every now and then the posts are good (when not hijacked) and really help me understand what is going on in the sport. Some of you already know me and i hope to meet others this new season. We (our team) had a fun time in the 60 majors over the last two years but we are now major plus in 2012. Looking forward to the new challenge and i hope we have more then one or two teams at each tournament.

Hey folks, it's a message board, not an information board or a let's be friends board. Take no offense, but we all have choices here. Either read a thread, respond or don't respond. I think way to much is being made of who says this or who says that. JMO

Not an information board? If you leave a message, isnt that information?
And yes this is an information board, theres a ton of very good information left here.
It is also a great place to make new friends, if you dont choose to use it that way so be it, but lets not take it away from those who choose to respond in that manner.
Pricer you said it, respond or dont respond, its a choice each of us makes.

What I meant was, as these message boards materialized on the internet they have been more of they said/he said forum. If anyone has visited a message that does not have the same type of responses or personalities this one has, I would be surprised. I was not indicating it could not be used for those things.

HUH??????????????? The poster's name is CLEARLY displayed in the left-hand column. If you don't like that poster, pretty easy to skip on to the next one. At least easy for me, never so sure about you.

Who/What exactly is making you read these undesirable posts? (This ought to be good)

goforit-John, I look forward to reading how guys feel about topics, but do not understand why topics get beaten to death sometimes. Gary19-we all know how you feel, many, many times over, but I'm afraid there are a lot of people who will not post their ideas because they know you will respond negatively to them. I have talked to a few right here in Albuquerque that read the board, but won't respond for just that reason. You have become what you want to be-the talk of the board, and the center of attention.
John, I met you in Denver last year-it was a pleasure--and we may go at it on the field this year. I played with GSF this last weekend and had some fun, despite being in 'January' shape. (C'mon, fat IS a shape). It afforded a chance to meet several guys from on here. That's the biggest reason I do participate here.

Webbie,

It was great getting to meet you also in Denver. How did you guys do against D & K over the weekend? Are you going to be in Mesquite? Not sure we will have a full team but it just means the rest of us won't be able to make any outs. Take care -- see you soon.
