Death of a Hero
We started senior league play last week and Jimmy Costello wasn't there. I asked around and nobody knew why. As I read today's paper I found out why Jimmy Costello is not playing ball. He and his wife were pictured, obviously grieving, at the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery where they were burying their son who died a hero in Iraq! It breaks my heart to think how difficult it must be for a father to bury his son. I can only hope that Jimmy realizes that most Americans grieve with him and his wonderful family. Jimmy has always been so very proud of his son and I'm sure, while hurt, and maybe even broken inside, that pride is just as strong as ever. Whether you agree with the war or not, Most of us feel this nation owes a depth of gratitude to the Jimmy Costello's of this great land. He gave us his son. May God repay him because we cannot! I think that Jimmy's fellow teammates will be a great support for him and the wife...It is very sad...Sometimes we just need to stop and count our blessings both as an individual and for the young people in the service that protects our freedom..

THE ODE

THEY SHALL GROW NOT OLD
AS WE THAT ARE LEFT GROW OLD
AGE SHALL NOT WEARY THEM
NOR THE YEARS CONDEMN
AT THE GOING DOWN OF THE SUN,
AND IN THE MORNING:
WE SHALL REMEMBER THEM.
