Rock n Reno Fields
Quick question. Having never played in Reno..How are the fields? Playing Golden Eagle on Sat / Mon and Shadow Mountain on Sun..How do these fields compare to Vegas( Hollywood Park and Arroyo Grande ) ?

Golden Eagle is arguably the finest all-artifical turf softball complex in the country. Six fields (a 5-wheel with one more above them looking down from the end of the complex) and it is simply state of the art.

The primary driving force behind this year's scheduling theory was to have every team play at Golden Eagle if possible. We met that criteria with all except the Men's 75+ and 80+ and the Women's 60/65+ because they prefer to not play there due to the speed of balls on the turf.

Shadow Mountain is a bit older, but in very good shape, four field facility. Fields there are nicer than Hollywood, but probably a slight notch below Arroyo Grande. If it were a four field complex, Russell Road would probably be a better analogy. Fields #1 and #4 at Shadow Mountain are 285' and Fields #2-3 (only one 60-AA game there) are 280'. They have an outstanding snack bar operation, too!

Just be glad you aren't playing at Rancho San Rafael. I've played at every complex in Reno and RSR is the worst by far IMO. The "warning track" last year was like trying to move in beach sand. Any play close to the fence was iffy at best.

I have to agree with Staff on Golden Eagle. What a great complex and the truest artificial turf I have ever played on. We tried to get a complex like that in Albuquerque but our electorate voted it down.

Webbie I noticed your team and Shane's aren't going to Reno. Whats up I was looking forward to playing you guys again. Won't be the same without Wash. And N.M.

No arguing, Golden Eagle IS the finest around. I would take the speed of the ball the on turf over the amount of rocks and holes on the dirt any day!

Very disappointed that JCI/The Y from WA is not
heading to Reno. Not enough interest to play Carson City and maybe the weather freaked some
guys out last year. I will be there to spy on you guys though, umpiring session 1-2, playing
50AA session 3 in Carson City.
