Dude let it go. In our division this year the teams that finished 2nd thru 8th or 9th in 2011 were all allowed to return.

The only way they would move that many teams up is to reduce some of the limits currently allowed in Major+, like going back to 5 runs an inning (maybe 7), eliminating the out of area players entirely and putting a limit on the homeruns and going back to DBO's after an "X" amount. They should do this, regardless, 2 hour games that don't even go 7 innings is a little much.

I heard that SSUSA is moving up the tops seven teams from 2011 and 2012...

It's been said this scared the NorCal Barons so bad that four or five players moved to the 55 Division and Swing was last seen begging Demolition for a tryout as long as they promised to bat him third.

It's rumored the Barons coach Eddie is joining "lost mind stein" in an occupy homeless camp in China, Cuba or Venezala .... You know..... The three countries according to "lost mind stein" that are doing it correctly at this time.

That will leave Swing's old team (the one he is looking to quit) with seven players..... Those seven players are looking for major teams willing to take major plus ranked players...

In the end.... Swing will be joining a AAA 40 team...... It's rumored the Sofa Kings or a new San Francisco City league teams named The Sisters of Perpetual Crying..... Demarini Is rumored to be sponsoring the team because....... Swing loves the PICKLE and pickle juice:)

The big rumor going around is that MTC is pulling their sponsorship from the 50's because of the coaches childish behavior on message boards.

Played in the 50 Major and went out Sunday and watched the finals and I don't think the top four finishers would stand much of a chance of competing in Major Plus much less the top 10.

Ron, this rumor thing is getting fun.....

I heard a rumor your leaving the Barons for MTC.....

The childish behavior thing is very cute..... I think we all take turns acting like seven year olds...... Unlike you. I see no problem with open debates on rumors or concepts to better the game.... Even a little fun KIDDING AROUND...

Hey.... Did you hear the rumor about a guy childishly trying to fight a guy because his pitcher stretched out to try to field a ball and missed it.... I heard it happened in Manteca....

If your worried about Any individual sponsors..... How about what a sponsor would think of a player trying to start a fight on a softball field????

Swing,, this is a good opportunity to discuss softballs relationship to ones ego.

I think everyone has an ego.....

Fortunate for me and probably my team mates. My ego is not fed through softball.

Many years ago I was fortunate enough to be on a team that won a world tourney......

During the years prior to that win I was fed by the believe that winning was what made softball enjoyable.

I was a horrible person on the field. Yelling when others made errors..... Trying to replace good team mates with players just a little bit better....complaining about the batting order and where I hit..... Yelling at umpires and opposing teams.....

During those years I had a good friend Jeff Peterson (the best athlete is very played with) that continually tried to teach me that having fun in softball was in the playing of it...not the winning of games.

After we won that world tourney Jeff and I had many talks about fulfillment and softball..... And you know???? Jeff was right....

Once I reached Jeff's point of enjoying playing with great team mates is more important then winning, every softball game I played in was a win..... Not just those that ended up with my team having the most runs.

As far as positions on a softball field I should play.... At the major level I am best suited as a first baseman right fielder in a four man or maybe if I worked on it a pitcher....

In the end..... Softball is my hobby of choice...... None of which feeds any of my ego..... I play softball for fun pure and simple....

As far as my missing a routine grounder that would have resulted in a game ending triple play...... It happened..... We lost..... I hope my team mates look at my error as I look at all their physical errors on the field......it happened.... It's over.... Nothing can be done about it now.... So move on, and work (practice) to reduce the chance of it happening again....

My main goal with our team is to instill in them what I learned from Jeff......

Whether you put more runs on the board or not should not dictate the enjoyment you get by playing.

I'll finish by stating I find enjoyment on the softball Internet.... I do know sometimes the "sensitive ones" can get a little booty hurt by some of my posts.....

If your in the sensitive list...... I am sorry.

Maybe one day you will see softball as I do. A great place to compete with friends and mess around in jest.

If you get there you'll know it because you will not yell about mistakes, abuse umpires, throw bats, care who hits where in the order or in the end....if you win or lose most of your games.

Jawood, I would just add time to the games. 90 minutes should be the time limit at worlds for the Major+ games. I will never vote on over the fence balls being an out at the top level of play. Being able to swing away helps protect the pitcher and infielders. At my age I don't want people trying to it hit down on purpose. I'd rather see them try and hit it out.

Jawood,
Just curious... Why is going 7 innings so important? Seems like you are reducing defense by artificially reducing the number of outs you have to record by making it 5 runs an inning.

Tim,
Now that the dynasty team (Sommerville) has lost and you have proclaimed your love of playing the game for its pure enjoyment, I imagine you will have no problem moving up to Major Plus. Especially because winning doesn't matter to you. Also, if your theory about Dynasty teams holds true, in addition to your team being enticed, there should be a bunch of teams clamoring to move up. Again, that is if your argument had any validity.

Tim,
Also in addition to Sommerville losing, Turn2 the other dynasty team lost as well. Can we expect to see an influx of teams into the 60 Plus category? Again, if your argument was valid at all that should happen. Whats great about this is we dont have to speculate anymore, we can actually see if your argument has any validity. Any bets? I didn't think so.

Donll, I wasn't saying that it's THAT important to go 7 innings although you would think a 2 hour game would.

Actually my concept was for every Plus program.

Not just the 50s.

Or...haven't you noticed how poorly every Plus program is doing?

A player talked to me this weekend about what I have been saying about slightly breaking up the Plus Champions.

He had another way to consider doing it.

He said that if SSUSA started limiting Plus teams to 10 rings per roster it could help balancing out the comp.

His concept was any team in Plus could have any players they want from their area on their roster as long as all the players do not have more then 10 championship rings in their age group between them.

That would let any one year winner keep ten of their players and if they won again in the same age group they could only return five players (assuming their core was on both Championship teams)

In the end...senior softball has two choices....keep senior Plus ball like it is and continue to have very poor participation or make changes to entice major teams to move up when bumped.

As far as our team goes....we averaged 7 home runs a game last weekend...in the last three years we have beatin the East Bay Oldies once, the Longhornes maybe twice. That's three wins in over 20 games...and these games were in NCSSA where you get a couple home runs then a one up rule....

So.....I hope you can see why playing Plus ball is not enticing to me as its currently set up, and I can only surmise my feelings are shared by many that have decided to not move up when bumped, this goes for the other age groups as well.

As far as me personally playing Plus goes? My team vote is to always just play local...if the team votes different I would support their wishes. Once again....I am just giving suggestions to make all of senior ball a little better.

If its good for AA AAA and Major to not allow the Champion team to return every year...why should that stop at the Plus level.. Obviously not allowing the Champions to return intact every year is helping every other Division of senior ball
