want to play softball
my name is aaron summey, I have been playing with Oklahoma blast out of tulsa.I am 65, our team is classified as major. we,re the only major team in a six state area.Since we have no one to play, our team is folding. I want to play ball.I have asked ridge to let me play down to join my old team, but he says no', so I,m looking for a major team that needs a player. I play any position ,including pitch.at nations in plano,I was selected to the all american team. I have excellant speed, batted at the 800 level, and always hustle.I don,t know the rules about location or residence, but I am single and would consider moving. Just want to play ball, especially in the late national and world tournaments.

Aaron I don't know the rules either but maybe they would let you drop to 60 AAA in your area.

Aaron, I play on a AA team out of Northwest Arkansas and we are short and in desperate need of a player for Plano Aug. 10 - 12th. I know you can play down to AA if you are 60 or over. 55 AA is very competive and I know you would be a welcome addition if you would like to join us for Plano. We have finished as high as third in the past and last year we finished fourth, but we have been struggling to keep players healthy this year. We have several players who are eligible for 60, so please get back to me if you want to give it a try. Our team is the Bella Vista Travelers and if things go right we could do some damage at nationals. If you want to call me you can reach me at 479-621-6894 at home and cell during the week 479-871-5604. A team from Louisiana won last year and added several 60 plus AAA players for nationals. Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks, J.C.

I have asked specifically about playing down in SPA. You can play down in a lower age group, but you can not play down in skill level. If you play with a AAA 60+ team, you cannot play down with a AA 55+ team. You can verify this on the SPA website. Didn't want you to spend time or money coming to Plano and get disappointed.

Seems like playing down an age group should let you move down at least one skill level. I do think Ridge is making a serious effort to keep the various classifications pure, however. Maybe this is necessary.
