CURE ALL FOR 2013
Why dont we just PLAY BY THE RULES THAT ARE IMPLAMENTED BY SSUSA and enjoy what time we have left to play. 1/1 count,0/0 count, mat, no mat, 3hrs.,then out or walk.Who the h--- cares.Just go play and enjoy.

Whatever the rules are they are. It doesn't change the fact that players still have to hit, run, throw and field to achieve success.

You guys are 100% correct and, in the real world, that's what we do. (real world = actually playing ball). But a message board or chat room seems to create an environment wherein people commence to 'foot fondling a deceased equine'.
Many things that are written on here that would not be said in our 'real world'... but some points that are made are truly productive. Posts that begin as a positve message often regress to petty bickering.
We've been playing ball for 40 years (some more, some less) and have rolled with the punches all this time. Rules have changed over the years and, whether we like them or not, we continue to play.
Personally, I look forward to this season more than I have in 4-5 years. When we go to play it isn't about the rule nuances, it's about the game itself and the people that play it.
Had the 1-1 count been voted in I would still feel the way that I do.

IMO the board is about making the game better, getting other opinions, and questioning situations to generate discussion about improvement. A lot of the posters neither fund a team, umpire, nor coach, as well as participate as a player.

We all love the game, that's why we are here, but to blindly say let's just play no matter what is like getting in a car and saying let's just go, when sometimes it might be Stevie Wonder who's your driver.

I think what tg is trying to say (You're very eloquent and subtle, Tommy) is that the rules are set forth for this year and like it or not it's what we are to follow. (Personally, I like all changes except I was hoping for 1-1 count). I think all the associations have done a good job listening as 'tweaks' are made to the game each year. Southernson, you're right that the message board is for discussion and hopefully it will remain that way. But from a player who cannot enjoy this game year 'round, I say 'play ball.'

southernson. We know the rules going into the season, so no BLINDLY going in. Nowhere did I say that I liked ALL the rules but I can play by them.Rules are set for 2013 so play by them.Maybe at the end of the year SSUSA will send out a poll and make changes IF that is what the VAST majority wants. Not just the 100 or so on this board wants.SO I SAY JUST GO PLAY AND ENJOY. southernson-there really is a very small percentage of players that blog here. SSUSA listens all year to all players, at tournaments, by email, etc. Overall most are pretty happy with the rules, and happy we can still play.

It's 10 degrees here today. PPPLllllaaaayyy B-B-B-a-a-a-l--l-l-! BRRRRR!
