The one I have now has over 300 swings and doesn't even have scuff marks on it. Combat is a very good company to work with, they will help you out if they can. Good luck |

I had a Worth 454 that broke in a couple of weeks with about 200 swings on it, and they replaced it. My Centenarian has about 250 swings on it with no marks on the barrel and is killing the ball. |

| Jan. 20, 2013 ju25 Men's 60 236 posts | Senior bats are hotter than most bats and with hotness you sacrifice durability. Sometimes you get a bad bat and it will break prematurely. IMO with composite bats you have to start out slowly, 25 or so swings at 1/2 speed, 25 or so swings at 3/4 speed, before you start swinging at full speed. This helps to break in the fibers more evenly which limits the weak spots, which cause breaking. Bats must be rotated after every swing and not used for bp after break-in, or in temps below 60. I have an original Combat (gray) that sees game use only and is still going strong. I have boken USSSA and ASA bats, but all were in 50 degree and below weather. |

The fact that it broke new in 10 swings means you were probably swinging flat out w/o break in. ju25's advice is consistent with what bat sellers have said here respecting break in. Temperature may also have played a role. If you are in a northern clime, the bat may have been in the trunk on the ride to where you hit. Additionally indoor cages can be very cold before the heat is turned on and even then. All that said act respectfully and go back to the seller and ask for help. There is also a system at Combat to address this if the seller isn't helful. Combat's contact person can be found by searching this website. Good Luck. |
