SSUSA STAFF HIGHLIGHT: DON REDDIG
March 1, 2016
Don Reddig, a National Director with Senior Softball USA, got his start with SSUSA after talking with Fran Dowell (Executive Director) and Terry Hennessy (CEO) while managing the Titans (CA) for years. It was a natural progression for Reddig, who was umpiring senior softball and also running his own Senior Softball association, So-Cal Senior Softball Tournaments.
Reddig, who is a disabled veteran, spent four years in the Marines, including 18 months in Vietnam. Don has been involved in sports for over four decades, working as a baseball and softball umpire at the high school level, as well as a high school football referee.
Married for 50 years to his wife Diane, who can also be seen at Senior Softball tournaments, the couple has five children and 16 grandchildren with another one due in September. Reddig also battled a rare form of lung cancer that occurs outside the lung and is now happily cancer-free. "Over the years, I have made many friends on and off the field through the Senior Softball family," said Reddig. "However, the support and prayers during my bout with cancer was overwhelming and greatly appreciated. Thanks Senior Softball family!"
