INAUGURAL 40's SPRING WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS A HUGE SUCCESS

CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. --- The inaugural 40’s Spring World Championships, a Tournament of Champions (TOC) qualifier, was held here March 19-20 with 19 teams competing in two divisions.
The Men’s 40 Masters Major Plus Division featured five teams. Starting off the tournament with a two-game round robin for seeding, Battleborn Miken/Loaded Sports (CA) and EliteSportsUSA.NET/Dudley (CA) each posted a perfect 2-0 record.
EliteSportsUSA.Net/Dudley earned the top seed and continued its solid performance into bracket play, going 3-0 to earn the championship win and secure a spot in the original Tournament of Championships in February.
HandPicked (CA), the No. 4 seed in the Major-Plus division, had a solid showing in bracket play, going 3-2 to come out of the elimination side of the bracket and play their way into the championship final.
In the 14-team Men’s 40 Masters Gold Division, 1st To 20 Magic Sports (CA), Layer Cake/Dudley/Elite (CA), Nicon Trucking (CA), R&R 40 Oz (CA), Rancid/Miken Sports (CA) and S.B.O.B (AZ) all went 2-0 in the two-game round robin for seeding purposes.
Nicon Trucking secured the top seed and played like it, remaining undefeated during the weekend, going 4-0 in the championship bracket to take home the title and earn an invitation to the TOC.
Rancid/Miken Sports, the second seed, had a strong showing in bracket play as well, posting a 5-2 record and a runner-up finish. After dropping its first game, Rancid rattled off five straight wins to reach the championship game out of the elimination bracket.
