2016 COW TOWN CLASSIC RECAP

SHAWNEE, KAN. - The 2016 Cow Town Classic was held here at the Mid-America Sports Complex March 31-April 3.
In the four-team 50 Major/Major-Plus division, KC Classics came out of the loser’s bracket, eliminating 50 Caliber/Dudley St. Louis and defeated previously unbeaten Oklahoma Rhino in back-to-back games to claim the division.
In the 50 AAA/AA division, Team Illinois ran the table, going 4-0 in seeding play to take the top seed, followed by a 3-0 showing in bracket play to finish off a perfect performance in the nine-team single elimination tournament.
Earning the top seed in the four-team double elimination tournament in the 55 Major division, Midwest Driving School ran off three straight wins, including back-to-back wins over J & J Sports, to take home the championship.
The 55 AAA division featured a five-team single elimination tournament following seeding play, which saw top seed Nebraska Silver Bullets go 2-0 with wins over Big Daddy’s Donuts and KC Renegades 55’s to win the title.
Following a strong showing in seeding play that gave them the No. 1 seed in the 60 Major double elimination tournament, The Dugout 60 rolled through bracket play going 3-0 with wins over 50 Caliber Silver St. Louis, KC Renegades 60’s and Integrity Builders. After dropping its first game, Integrity builders won two straight to come out of the elimination bracket and into the championship game.
In the 55 AA/ 60 AAA / 60 AA double elimination three-team bracket, Minnesota Blizzard bounced back from a loss to Bags Softball 60, by eliminating Reco Nebraska and defeating Bags in back-to-back games, 30-29 and 27-20, respectively.
The 65 AAA division featured five teams, with No. 2 seed KC Kids going 3-0 in bracket play and eventually earning the championship victory over U.S. Pallet 65. After losing its first game, top seed U.S. Pallet bounced back nicely, with two straight wins in the elimination side of the bracket to play its way back in the championship picture.
The 70/75 division saw MoKanDo defeat Mid-America Patriots in a championship thriller, 30-29.
