SIXTEEN TEAMS COMPETE AT 16TH ANNUAL CHILI PEPPER CLASSIC

April 1, 2016

EL PASO, TEX. - The 16th annual Chili Pepper Classic was held at the El Paso County Sports Complex on April 9-10 and featured 16 teams spread across four divisions.

Starting off in the 40/50 Major division, No. 3 seed Tucson Hammertime Softball won three straight games in the championship bracket, defeating Texas Bulls 50’s, EPT 40’s and El Paso Spurs, to secure a spot in the championship game. The Spurs rebounded with a win over Texas Bulls in an elimination game and defeated Hammertime in the championship game to force the “if” game. Hammertime took the rubber match 29-17 to claim the division.

The 50 AAA division featured a championship “if” game, as No. 4 seed Pyhooya 50’s defeated No. 2 seed Graywolves, avenging their loss in the championship game.

In the 55/60 Division, top seed Mr. Softball swept through the championship bracket to conclude a perfect weekend, defeating Unpredictable and Drillers twice.

In a best two-out-three game series, Electrifiers (60 AAA) defeated Morning Star Senators (55 AA).
