SSUSA STAFF HIGHLIGHT: MICHAEL BOONE

Michael Boone, Senior Softball-USA National Director from Bridgewater, NJ, began as a player with SSUSA in 2004. He would become a regional director in 2008 and national director in 2010. Boone was inducted into the SSUSA Hall of Fame in the player category in 2015.
“Michael has been a huge part in the growth in our softball organization,” said Fran Dowell, SSUSA Executive Director. “Michael has played an integral role in helping to grow senior softball on the East Coast, as well as assisting with anything that we need as a director and rules committee member and friend to SSUSA. It is an honor to call Michael my very good friend.”
As a director for SSUSA, Boone has worked numerous tournaments, including the Eastern Nationals in Raleigh, the World Masters in Vegas and the TOC in Florida. He’s also been involved as a delegate to the National Senior Summit and is a member of the National Rules Committee and numerous Appeals Boards, earning two Award of Excellence honors.
Boone has been a player and a sponsor/manager for Sweet Construction, a major NYC construction firm. He’s also played with RoadHouse Blues and Promotion Sportswear. Over the years, Boone’s teams have captured several National and World Championships, as well as an SSUSA Tournament of Champions title. To go with his team accolades, Boone has also racked up a plethora of individual awards, which include All-Tournament, All-American and All-World selections, to go along with a Manager of the Year honor. This season, Boone has also begun sponsoring a women’s team, Sweet Ladies Softball, 40 Major.
Other key playing highlights for Boone have been participating in the Pacific Rim tournament for USA last year, in Las Vegas, and playing in the Wounded Warrior game at BLD, also in Las Vegas, three years ago. Boone on being a part of the Wounded Warrior game: “It was one of the greatest and most humbling experiences in my life. It was an honor for me to play in it, and with those guys. They were fantastic!”
