2016 MISSOURI OPEN

COLUMBIA, MO - Thirty-tree teams from around the mid-west traveled to the Rainbow Softball Complex to compete in the 2016 Missouri Open, June 2-5.

The 50 Major/Major Plus division featured a three-team double elimination championship bracket, with 50 Caliber/Dudley St. Louis going 3-0 with wins over KC Naturals, 23-22, and KC Classics twice, including 24-22 in the championship game.

The seven-team 50 AAA division featured a single elimination championship bracket following four seeding games. Top seed Double Duce, who went 3-1 in seeding play, upheld its strong performance going 2-0 in bracket play with a pair of one-run victories to win the division, defeating Southwest Thunder, 23-22, and Team O50, 30-29, in the championship.

The 55 Major division featured another three-team double elimination bracket, with Midwest Driving School coming back to defeat 50 Caliber Plus-St. Louis, 28-13, in the “if” game, after falling 23-16 in the championship game.

Nebraska Silver Bullets took the six-team 55 AAA/AA division going 5-0. Big Daddy’s Donuts, Triple Crown and Reco Nebraska all went 3-2, while KC Renegades 55’s went 1-4. Redwings concluded the full round robin tournament with a 0-5 record.

The 60 Major division saw The Dugout 60 beat out 50 Caliber Silver St. Louis in the championship game. KC Renegades 60’s was the third team in the division.

The five-team 60 AAA/AA division featured an exciting single elimination format in the championship bracket, with Bags Softball 60 defeating Oklahoma Street Outlaw, 19-12, and Oklahoma Mudcats, 21-13, in the championship game.

Six teams battled it out in the 65 AAA division, with KC Kids bouncing back from a 0-2 showing in seeding play, to win four straight games in bracket play to take the title. KC Kids defeated U.S. Pallet 65, The Dugout 65 and Midwest Express, before knocking out USA Patriots, 35-23, in the championship game.
