SSUSA STAFF HIGHLIGHT: GEORGE MORENO
June 1, 2016
George Moreno, Senior Softball USA National Office Manager, began working at SSUSA in 2007 part-time, making player registration cards. He’d gain full-time status in 2008 overseeing rosters and the national ratings system, as well as serving as the office manager.
In overlooking ratings, George has one of the more scrutinized jobs in SSUSA. Team ratings are done twice a year (June and November), with a thorough review of results and data of nearly 1,000 teams from previous tournaments throughout the year.
“I love what I do,” said George. “It’s more than just a job. I want to create a good softball atmosphere for all of our senior players and make all tournament divisions as balanced as possible.”
Prior to working at SSUSA, George worked in real estate for over 12 years.
George got his initial start with SSUSA as a player with the Sacramento Saints, before moving on to manage his own teams, beginning with Wilson Trophy 50 and later on a 55 team. During his tenure, George’s teams won numerous tournaments, including Reno, Cal Cup, Northwest and Winter Worlds. He also served a brief time as an umpire, working the Worlds Champs in Phoenix.
