James "Jim" Bender

 

James "Jim" Bender of North Palm Beach, Fla., 78, died Nov. 3 following a courageous battle with cancer.

A longtime member of Premium Seats USA team, Bender was inducted into the National Senior Softball Hall of Fame in 2000 in the “Player” category.

Along with being an avid Senior Softball player, he also enjoyed bass fishing and golf, and was a member of the North Palm Beach Country Club. He was also active in the community, working with Trinity United Methodist Church, serving as a Support Our Troops volunteer, Golf Advisory Board Chairman Member, and Country Club Advisory member.

Bender was born in Portsmouth, NH and moved to Lake Worth, Fla., in 1948. After graduating from Lake Worth High School in 1959, he attended the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta. He served in the U.S. Army, followed by a career with Pratt Whitney, retiring after 25 years as a computer program analyst.
