March 1, 2017

CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. – The second annual Senior Softball-USA 40’s Spring World Championships, sponsored by Elite Sports, was held here at Big League Dreams on March 18-19. The winning team from each division earned a berth to the 2018 Original Tournament of Champions in Polk County, Florida in February.

The four-team Masters Major Plus division featured a two-game round robin to seed, leading into a double-elimination bracket.

Making their SSUSA debut, West Coast Mayhem (CA) posted a 1-1 record in seeding play, before going 3-0 in the bracket, defeating Asylum Ballers (CA), and top seed Desert Springs (NV) twice, including a 27-23 victory in the championship game. Layer Cake Wines/Dudley/Elite Sports USA (CA) finished in third place.

The 14-team Masters Major division was comprised of a three-game round robin to seed, leading to a modified single-elimination bracket.

Team CPC (CA) and Prestige Pools (CA) each registered a 3-0 record in seeding play to secure the No. 1 and 2 seeds, respectively. Both teams would advance to the championship game, facing off in a winner-take-all game, where Team CPC defeated Prestige Pools, 17-11.

Lazer Sports (NV) and Tri-Metal CNC (CA) each had solid showings in bracket play advancing to the semifinal round.
