Forty-Six Teams Attend 2017 ISA Senior World Series

COLUMBUS, IN – The 2017 ISA Senior World Series, a Tournament of Champions (TOC) qualifier, was held here at Dunn Sports Complex and Lincoln Park, July 28 – July 30.

Beginning with the Men’s 50 Major Plus division, Dudley Lightning (MO) came back to defeat AMR 50 (KY) in a best two-out-of-three game series. After AMR 50 squeaked out a 31-30 win in game one, Dudley Lightning won games two and three by scores of 42-32 and 29-12.

LS/WB (OH) won the four-team Men’s 50 Major division, going 3-0 in bracket play, including a 26-20 win over Brickyard Classics (IN) in the championship game. Following an 0-3 showing in seeding play, Brickyard Classics posted a 2-2 record in the bracket en route to their runner-up finish. Motor City Thunder (MI) finished in third place.

LS/WB (50 Major) ISA Senior World Series Champions

The eight-team Men’s 50 AAA division saw top seed Team Illinois run the table, going 2-0 in seeding play and 4-0 in bracket play, including a 17-11 victory over 50 Degrees (MO) in the championship game. 50 Degrees won three straight games in the elimination side of the bracket before falling short in the championship game. No. 7 seed Dayton Legends (OH) pulled off two upsets early in the bracket (defeating both No. 2 seed Bluegrass Softball (KY) 28-27 and No. 3 seed 50 Degrees 15-14 before finishing in third place.

Team Illinois (50 AAA) ISA Senior World Series Champions

Bayscan Softball (OH) rebounded from an 0-3 mark in seeding play, going unbeaten in bracket play with a 4-0 record, including a 22-16 win over Six Pac 55 (IN) in the championship game in the six-team Men’s 55 Major division. Six Pac 55 also went winless in seeding play, before regrouping in bracket play with a 3-2 record and a runner-up finish. Top seed Speedwerx (MN) finished in third place.

Antique Roadshow (IN) swept Jackson Merchants (MI) 26-15 and 18-11 in a best two-out-of-three game series to determine the champion in the Men’s 55 AAA division.

The four-team Men’s 60 Major division featured the top two seeds squaring off in the championship game, as Motown Stars (MI) edged out top seed, AMR/Clean Planet/A Special Taste (MI) 17-16. Motown Stars also won a one-run thriller over AMR/Clean Planet, 21-20, earlier in the bracket. Louisville OG’s (KY) finished in third place.

Milwaukee Merchants (WI) won the five-team Men’s 60 AAA division, following a 3-0 record in bracket play, including a 25-20 win over Central Illinois Chiefs in the championship game. Cincinnati 60’s (OH) won back-to-back games in the elimination side of the bracket to eventually finish in third place.

All In 60’s (IL) and Indy Fog (IN) played all three games in their best two-out-of-three game series for the Men’s 60 AA division, as the teams split the first two games, before All In won the rubber match 22-12. Indy Fog won the first game 14-13, while All In took game two 27-17, setting up the third and final game.

The Men’s 65 Major Plus division would also see its best two-out-of-three game series go all three games, as MN Masters/Ancell took game one over DeClaire LaMacchia Orthopaedic Institute (MI) 20-19 while DeClaire came back to win game two 27-16 and the third and decisive game 27-13.


DeClaire LaMacchia Orthopaedic Institute (65 Major Plus) ISA Senior World Series Champions

Handeland Flooring (WI) took the three-team Men’s 65 Major division, defeating Dr. Vinyl (IN) 27-17 in the championship game. Scrap Iron 5280 (CO) finished in third place.

Hendricks Sports Management (TX), 70 Major, controlled the four-team Men’s 65/70 Gold division, going 3-0 in seeding play and 3-0 in bracket play, including a 25-22 win over Chicago Classics Bobcats in the championship game. Mid-State Seniors 65’s (IL) finished in third place. As the highest finishing 65 AAA team, Chicago Classics Bobcats would also receive a TOC bid.

Hendricks Sports Management (70 Major) ISA Senior World Series Champions

In the four-team Men’s 65 AA division, top seed Chicago Hitmen (IL) bounced back from their opening bracket loss against Badger Classics (WI) 15-12 to win four games, including double-dipping Kentuckiana 65’s (KY) in the championship (25-18) and “if” game (20-17). Chicago Hitmen also avenged their loss against Badger Classics, defeating the team 26-23 in the third-place game, to reach the championship game.
