2017 Rochester 10,000 Lakes Classic Recap

Rochester, MN – The 2017 Rochester 10,000 Lakes Classic was held here, August 4 – 6, at McQuillan Field.
 
The four-team Men’s 65/70 Gold division started off the tournament, as top seed Minnesota Masters 65’s posted a perfect weekend, going 2-0 in seeding play, before registering a 3-0 mark in bracket, including a 25-21 win over Minnesota Prize 70’s in the championship game. Oshkosh Ambassadors 65 finished in third place. 
 
Another four-team division, the Men’s 70/75 AAA division, saw MN Masters 70’s knock off MN Lumberjacks 70’s, 19-13, in the championship game. The win polished off a flawless showing for MN Masters 70’s, as the team went 2-0 in seeding play and 3-0 in the bracket. Quad City Old Stars finished in third place.
 
In the four-team Men’s 50/55 Platinum division, Jimmy’s/Ancell 50’s MN rattled off four straight wins after dropping their first game in the bracket, including a double-dip of Iowa Demons, 16-15 and 23-13, in the championship and “if” game, respectively. Minnesota Merchants 50 finished in third place.
 
MN Lumberjacks 50 came back to defeat J & J’s Sports/Miken/demons, 17-16, in the “if” game of the Men’s 50/55 Gold division, after dropping the championship game, 20-16. Speedwerx finished in third place.
 
In a best two-out-of-three game series between Egress Window Guy and Antiques of Iowa City, Egress Window Guy swept the series, winning 16-14 and 15-5, to take the Men’s 50/55 Silver division.
 
The championship game of the Men’s 60 Major division was rained out, as Pope Transport and Wisconsin Masters were unable to complete the game. Pope Transport was named the winner by defeating Wisconsin Masters, 28-12, earlier in the bracket to reach the championship game; while Wisconsin Masters defeated Mulcahy of Minnesota/Ancell, 23-11, in the third-place game to reach the championship game.
 
Milwaukee Merchants 60 was victorious in the Men’s 60 AAA division, defeating Minnesota Blizzard, 19-9, in the championship game. MN Lumberjacks White finished in third place.
 
The Men’s 60 AA division saw a best two-out-of-three game series go the distance, as Bags Softball and Oshkosh Ambassadors split the first two games, before Oshkosh Ambassadors won the rubber match, 10-5.
