The 2017 Windy City Qualifier Recap

Elgin, IL – The 2017 Windy City Qualifier attracted 22 teams at the Elgin Sports Complex, from July 28 – 30.

Beginning with the three-team Men’s 65/70 Gold division, Chicago Prime 65’s came out of the elimination side of the bracket to eventually double-dip Chicago Strikers 70, by scores of 20-14 and 21-12, in the championship and “if” game, respectively. El Rey’s 65’s finished in third place.

Michael’s won the four-team Men’s 70 AAA division, defeating Chicago Gray Sox (14-4) and Oshkosh Ambassadors 70 (18-4), in the championship game, in the modified single elimination bracket.

WC Thunder swept Chi Town 50’s in a best two-out-of-three game series, by scores of 22-7 and 22-4, to win the Men’s 50 Major division.

Chitown Assault/Miken/T2Auto/Triboh won the four-team Men’s 50 AAA division, edging out Milwaukee Magic, 15-14, in the championship game. Big Hurt Softball finished in third place.

WC Thunder 55 went 3-0 in bracket play to win the three-team Men’s 55 Major division, defeating Buster’s Bar & Grill/Benny & Son’s, 18-14, in the championship game; while Cooney Classics defeated Windy City/Old Style, 9-8, in the “if” game of the three-team Men’s 55/60 Gold division, after falling in the championship game, 21-17.

Concluding the tournament was the three-team Men’s 60 Silver division, as Oshkosh Ambassadors defeated Chicago Panthers, 21-19, in the championship game. Playmakers finished in third place.
