Nine Inducted Into Minnesota Senior Sports Association Hall of Fame

VADNAIS HEIGHTS, Minn. – The Minnesota Senior Sports Association held its fourth annual Hall of Fame banquet here at Jimmy’s Event Center on May 18, inducting nine new members as part of the Class of 2018.

The new inductees represented various sports, including swimming, bowling, baseball, ping pong, golf, track & field, barefoot water skiing, and softball.

A member of Senior Softball-USA, Bob Hartshorn was one of the inductees representing softball.


Bob Hartshorn

A longtime member of the Minnesota Prize 60, 65, and 70 teams as a manager and player, Hartshorn has had an impressive career in senior softball, winning the LVSSA/SSUSA World Masters Championship in 2013 (Men’s 65) and 2016 (Men’s 70). He was named to the all-tournament team in 2013 and MVP in 2016. Hartshorn was also named manager of the year in 2008 by Softball Players Association (SPA).

Additionally, Hartshorn has served as Commissioner of West Metro Senior Softball for 15 years.

Another inductee representing softball was Paulette Genz, whose career accolades include winning a Gold Medal in Softball at the World Senior Games, and a Class of 1996 induction into the Minnesota State Softball Hall of Fame as a pitcher. Her team, The Minnesota Lady Loons, was the 2016 Minnesota Senior Sports Association Team of the Year.
