Second Session of Northeast Championships Concludes with Four Teams Securing TOC Bids

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Fourteen teams competed during the second session of the 2018 Northeast Championships here at Hopkins Road Park, July 9 – 11.

In the five-team Men’s 65 AAA Division, Brantford Nissan Seniors (Ontario, Canada) from North of the Border posted a perfect 3-0 record in bracket play, including an 18-12 win over the hometown Syracuse Cyclones (NY) in the championship game. The Cyclones won three straight games in the elimination side of the bracket en route to their runner-up finish. Top seed Spring Ford AA 65 (PA) finished in third place.


Brantford Nissan Seniors (Ontario, Canada) - Men's 65 AAA Champion

CC Medical Services (NY) defeated Jersey Masters (NJ) in a best two-out-of-three game series in the Men’s 70 Major Division. Jersey Masters took the opening game, 20-14; before CC Medical Services evened the series with a game two win, 14-7. CC Medical would complete the come-back, taking the rubber-match, 19-11.

In another best two-out-of-three game series, this one for the Men’s 70 AAA Division, Bostonian 70s (MA) downed hometown Syracuse Cyclones (NY). Syracuse Cyclones took game one, 15-9; before Bostonian 70s won game two, 15-12, to force a third and decisive game. Building off its momentum from their recent win, Bostonian completed the come-back with a 22-12 victory in the final game.

The five-team Men’s 75 AAA Division featured a full four-game round robin to seed, before going into a modified single elimination bracket. Monkey Joe’s Big Nut Co. 75 (NJ) earned the top seed in the bracket following its perfect 4-0 record in seeding. Monkey Joe’s Big Nut Co. would finish off the tournament unbeaten, as the team defeated Syracuse Cyclones (NY), 10-4, and Bailey Talent Cavaliers 75 (VA), 20-9 (championship game), in bracket play.
