Nov. 1, 2018

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The inaugural Rutherford County Classic was held here at Starplex Field, Oct. 13-14, with seven teams getting an early start to the 2019 campaign.

In the four-team Men’s 50-55 Gold Division, Resolve 50’s (TN) registered a perfect weekend, going 3-0 in seeding play to secure the top seed, before going 2-0 in bracket play, including a thrilling 21-20 win over No. 2 seed Monster Softball 55 (TN) in the championship game.

Trailing 21-14 heading into the top of the open inning of the championship game, Monster Softball put together a furious six-run rally, before falling just short.

Resolve defeated Action Sports 50 (KY) 24-14 to reach the championship game; while Monster Softball knocked off Derby City 55’s (KY) 23-18 to advance to the final game.

In the three-team Men’s 60 Gold Division, top seed Central Illinois Chiefs came back to win the “if” game 28-10 over Louisville Senior Slugger/Louisville Slugger (KY), after falling in the championship game 35-18. The Power (TN) finished third.
