2019 Southern Championships Make Debut in Peach State; Four Teams Secure TOC Berths

VALDOSTA, GA - The 13th Annual Southern Championships was held here for the first time at Freedom Park Softball Complex, the 2018 SSUSA Complex of the Year, July 13-14.

The tournament had an 11-year run in Birmingham, before moving to Raleigh last year.

Starting off with the four-team Men’s 40/50 Platinum Division, top seed S2S/.40 CAL 40 (FL) ran through bracket play with a perfect 3-0 record, including a 28-24 win over Team Kitty/Worth Miken 50 (FL).

Suncoast Adidas 40 (FL) finished in third place.

Lighthouse Lookouts/Athletic Shop (GA) swept LeMay Contracting (FL) in a best of three game series in the Men’s 50 Major Division, by scores of 16-14 and 22-18, respectively.

Central Florida Vipers won the three-team Men’s 50 AAA Division, going 3-0 in the bracket, including a 24-18 win over Public Enemy (FL) in the championship game.

Avalon Insurance/50 Caliber (FL) finished in third place.

In the five-team Men’s 60/65 Gold Division, GA/AL Seniors / GAS Softball came back to win the “if” game, 16-13, over top seed DT Express (TN); after falling in the championship game, 22-16.

T-REX Softball (GA) finished in third place.
