Colorado Ohana Honored with Steve Simmons Sportsmanship Award

Colorado Ohana - Women's 40 Major - 2019 Steve Simmons Memorial Team Sportsmanship Award Winner

Coloroado Ohana, a Women’s 40 Major team, was recognized as the 2019 Steve Simmons Memorial Team Sportsmanship Award. recipient during the third session for the 2019 LVSSA/SSUSA World Masters Championships.

“This award (Steve Simmons Sportsmanship) transcends the game itself,” said Terry Hennessy, SSUSA chief executive officer.  “It stands for all that is good in the sport: passionate competition played with good humor and good fellowship - that is the formula for good sportsmanship.  The beauty of good sportsmanship is that it incites a love of the game for all who witness it.”

Colorado Ohana began playing Senior Softball-USA in 2018, making their debut at the LVSSA/SSUSA Southwest Championships in the Women’s 40 AAA Division. The team would go on to win the 11-team division.

Colorado Ohana continued its strong play in 2018 at the LVSSA/SSUSA World Masters Championships, finishing in second place (17 teams) in the Women’s 40 AAA Division.

The team capped off its impressive rookie campaign at the Original Tournament of Champions, with a first-place finish in the Women’s 40 Silver Division.

Moving up to Major for the 2019 season, Colorado Ohana continued where it left off in 2018, winning the Winter World Championships, and finishing third at both the Southwest and Western National Championships.
