One of the largest senior softball leagues in America is about to get bigger.
The San Antonio Seniors Softball League, or SASSL, plans to provide women 30-and-older with a slow-pitch softball league of their own this summer. Opening night for the San Antonio Seniors Softball Women’s League is tentatively scheduled for Monday, June 23, at Normoyle Park Softball Complex.
Six teams have committed to play in the league. To enter a team, visit the SASSL website https://www.sassl.org or contact Kristen Hammock (210) 862-3779 or Kyra Crum (517) 812-9835. Entry fee is $400 per team.

SASSWL Commissioner Kyra Crum collaborated with Kristen Hammock and Michael York to bring women's softball back into the forefront for San Antonio.
SASSL President/CEO Pete Peterson invited all interested players and prospective participants to attend the first coaches meeting and panel discussion of the ladies' league Monday, June 16, at Normoyle Park.
The SASSWL exists primarily because of the collaborative efforts of Commissioner Kyra Crum, SASSL Executive Administrator Kristen Hammock, and SASSL Assistant VP of Operations Michael York.
Crum, 40, player-manager of Black Diamond in the Tuesday Night SASSL Coed League, has great expectations for the Monday Night SASSWL in The Alamo City.
“I expect for us to come out here and have a good time, play ball, and bring women's softball back into the forefront for San Antonio,” Crum said. “I think our coed league has some of the best ladies playing softball in town right now. And to be at that 30-year cutoff for [SASSL Women’s League] age limit, we definitely have some of the best players.
“And the ones who aren’t out here now will be joining us in the Monday league.”
