Maiurino, on Winning SSWC NY Team, Dies

Funeral services have been held for veteran senior softball player Anthony S. Maiurino, 71, of Liverpool, N.Y., who died in late December at his home.

After graduating from Syracuse University, he became the manager of Product/ Process Project Engineering at General Electric for many years. He owned Big Bay Marina on Oneida Lake and was a member of the Elfun Society.

Maiurino was an avid sportsman who loved boating, skiing, golfing and most of all softball. He played senior softball on many teams in New York and in Florida. He was a member of the Syracuse Cyclones team that won the 2008 Senior Softball World Series in Arizona.

He is survived by his mother, Mary; sister, Jeanella VanAlstyne of Fayetteville; several cousins; aunts; and a large family of softball players.
