ENJOY A BRIGHT NEW YEAR!

Oct. 1, 2011

The New Year provides an opportunity for all of us to start out on a positive note in life both on and off the softball diamond.

It’s our chance to leave the negativity behind and focus on what’s really important in our lives.

On the softball field, this is the perfect time to accept the challenge of playing in the best possible division; to embrace true competition.

Think of how much more fulfilling it will be to compete in a difficult division where your team is not assured of winning – or even finishing in the top of the division. Winning in a difficult division is a victory you will remember for a long, long time.

And while we all strive to win, there are some aspects of senior softball that make us all winners. That’s not just a trite saying; it is very real.

Think of the relationships with players you make both on your team and in the visiting dugouts.

Consider the incentive to get in better physical shape; and the benefits to all aspects of your life.

And then there is the fun factor. Don’t underestimate the value of having fun; the smiles in life make it all worthwhile.

In our eternal pursuit of victory, let’s make sure that in 2012 we’re rooting for our team and not against our opponents. If they make a great play in the field, don’t bemoan the fact. Salute their effort.

So let’s all resolve that with the start of the New Year we all start out on a positive note for the betterment of our game and our lives.
