LVSSA/SSUSA World Masters Championships
LAS VEGAS – This fast-paced, 24-hour-a-day action packed city had a new reason to celebrate when the World Masters Championships (WMC) were played here for the first time in 2012.
The reason? A record setting 446 senior softball teams from far and wide came to this desert oasis to match skills on the softball diamonds. The old mark was 341 teams set in 2011 by SSUSA’s World Championships in Phoenix.
Looking ahead to the 2013 event, which will be held from Sept. 27 through Oct. 5, tournament organizers expect to set yet another record for team attendance.
The 446 teams came from 36 states (including Alaska and Hawaii), three Canadian provinces, Guam, Germany and Japan.
“This coming year we are not only expecting more teams from the United States, but a far larger contingent of international teams,” said Terry Hennessy, chief executive officer of Senior Softball USA.
“We will have the largest divisions in the sport with new formats to keep games on time, and we are adding even better fields and complexes.”
Las Vegas officials were just as excited as the 446 teams translated to 15,000 people playing in 1,525 games over the 10-day event, with 80 umpires, 60 directors, and more than 100 other volunteers and vendors.
The WMC infused about $21 million into the Las Vegas economy.
The 2013 World Masters Championships is sponsored by Las Vegas Events and is a joint venture between Las Vegas Senior Softball Association and Senior Softball-USA.

Note: SSWC reserves the right to combine divisions of three or fewer teams within one age level and/or skill level. SSWC will make every effort to notify managers when divisions have to be combined.
This is a "Ring Award" Tournament.
All teams except Women’s teams 50 and over and Men’s teams 80 and over – must play in a 2013 season qualifier (which includes the 2012 Winter Nationals and Winter Worlds) in order to play in the LVSSA/SSUSA World Masters Championships

Manager Meeting
The day before play begins at 7 pm at Boulder Station. Team registration (managers only) is from 5 pm - 7 pm before each Managers Meeting.NOTE: Managers who do NOT attend the meeting will be presumed to be fully informed on ALL matters (such as schedule changes, tourney formats and rules issues) discussed at the meeting. Tournament rosters are “frozen” as of the Manager’s Meeting. NO on-site player additions are allowed without Tournament Director approval before team’s first game. Managers who do not attend Manager Meeting, and do not send a representative, will be prohibited from beginning tournament play before check-in with Field Director and are prohibited from Roster additions.
