wayne....the "slot" misses a lot of the opposite side pitches thus leading to bad/missed calls on balls and strikes.....if that is how they are taught then there are going to be many upset hitters and coaches

I have both...for me, the Melee2 is better....more pop, better feel and just a better confidence in my hands...Miken is a great bat too BUT, see first statement

there seems to be a pattern here....the side of the plate that the ump is opposite is the side where the ball is 6 inches inside or outside ....do we see a pattern here???

maybe it is the angle the ump uses...why don't they sit right behind the catcher and see both sides of the plate...seems pretty simple.....watch this

the link above to the ump punching out the kid on a pitch that was easily a FOOT outside was ridiculous.....at least sold the call.....except to the batter.....we are so used to calls on TV where strike boxes are used and play in games where a ball hits a mat or it doesn't, so when I watch these umps banging out a kid on a 8 inch inside pitch,, it is disappointing.....I doubt these guys are volunteers totally too.....our league used to pay kids 10-15 bucks to get abused by coaches and especially parents.....at this level, Little League should find the best and use them.....good luck to NY, just an hour down the road from me

when I coached little league 10 yrs ago, the strike zone was 1 fist on each side of the plate....this prevented tons of walks and encouraged kids to swing the bat....BUT after seeing some of the calls the last 2 days it seemed like 6 inches

I wish they made the Erupt in more colors besides black and white...the shoes are great though...I put extra insole for more cushioning

Discussion: Combat no longer making bats

I heard about Combat not making bats any longer and researched it and found a company letter stating that Performance sports (basically Easton) will no longer make Combat bats and close their Canadian plants.....once they sell out all their current product, they will be done making bats....their technologies will still be used in future bats probably under an Easton nameplate.....looks like another giant has swallowed up a smaller one , which is really how the world is changing every day

Discussion: Opinions about custom glove makers....

Dancer....this is my 2nd Vinci glove.....I got the exact model as you did and I am breaking it in right now (took the winter off and I should have been working all that time in the winter months).....it is about a 1/2" longer than my other Vinci glove....I found out about them yrs ago when the same question came up about getting a new glove...I had an A2000 that the pocket just wasn't big enough for softball outfield......but follow the instructions on break-in and work the glove often...the leather softens up quickly and soon it will feel as good if not better than the old reliable you had

Discussion: Dudley lighting 26oz balanced

my end cap broke on my first 25 swings....it appeared that the 2 part epoxy wasn't mixed properly and half the endcap remained glued solidly in the bat end...the "glue" was still wet and that told me that it was a 2 part epoxy that wasn't thoroughly mixed....end result was that I got a new bat or new end cap whichever because the bat was so new, I couldn't tell a new one from mine yet...Dudley was good about it...it did take a month because that was the first batch of Dudleys made and they were in great demand

Discussion: Achilles Tendon Soreness

do you wear mid or high shoes...I found that the mids would irritate my Achilles usually by the middle of the summer leagues...I switched to lows and will see how they go this year...the Achilles would hurt to the touch...I mean REALLY painful.....I figure I had tendinitis but it last a long time and rest was the only thing that helped

Discussion: New Adidas MeLee 2

I thought this post was a bout the NEW Adidas Melee2.....let's get back to that topic...I had a few guys hit one at a BP session last week and many were astonished.....the ball "jumps" off the bat, the sweet spot is "great" were some of the comments from 6 different hitters...this is all out of the wrapper too.....some say that it take 75-100 swings to break it in, many can't wait for that to happen

Discussion: 2016 melee

I hit a new Adidas Melee 2 a few weeks ago in florida...after 5 swings, I said "Yup, its as good as my reebok"....just glad that Melees will be available again because when reebok stopped, the world almost stopped....not quite, but finding a 26 ounce balanced Reebok was like searching for Bigfoot.....I think I got the LAST one in the world a few months ago...lol

Deep14, buy a Dudley or new miken sr bat....they seem to have solved some durability issues...for the rest of us NON bat breakers, the Melee both the reebok and the Adidas perform great for me....but every player swings differently and what works for one guy might not work for another....my brother hits his driver 250 down the middle, I use it and I pull hook it 8 out of 10 times...is his driver crappy???, no, it just doesn't work for me......same goes for bats....

Discussion: face masks

seems a pretty simple rule...if you pitch, you wear a mask...I play hockey, I wear a full cage .....I have lost count how many times I have gotten hit by stray sticks, lifted pucks and errant elbows which definitely would have knocked out some teeth or broken bones or blackened eyes...some guys wear 1/2 visors and some wear only the required helmet........I have NEVER seen a guy need stitches while wearing a full cage......sure it is great to skate without a visor or half shield or a cage BUT, bottom line is safety.....I choose full protection......rules are rules...I don't like going 55 on the highway but its a rule...it probably is better for everyone and that's why there are rules...it is a small price to pay for a mask then to see someone get seriously injured playing a game without one....
