Discussion: Keeping Weight on Rear Foot during Stride, Key to Hip Power

One of the most misunderstood steps of the swing and under used technique..I found myself just stepping and landing on front foot rather than keeping weight on the back foot long enough to drive the hips into the rotation. Huge difference between doing it right and doing it halfway. It also helps set a better launch angle and allows hands to come back more naturally. All great top level hitters do this. 80yr Pops hitting 3 weeks after knee replacement. consult your doctor of course, but hitters can work on core and upper body torque, extension and wrist snap developing skills off the tee if the lower body is in rehab from injury or joint replacement.

Discussion: DUDLEY 2019 LIGHTNING HOTW

Dudley has made some great bats, and I am sure will fix this and continue to be a leader, but on a similar conversation..we as seniors have different views on what the balance of performance and durability is. I personally feel if I get a senior bat that is fully broken in and hot in 75 swings...and then lasts 150 to 200 high performance game swings in that "hot " state, then it is a bat that I am happy with. I would prefer a bat that breaks in fast and is game ready..Buy a couple for games only, break in and they should last long enough in this role...I use a returnable utrip bat that is similar to my senior bat in feel and makeup to get in the long bp sessions, in cold weather, wet balls, etc... A candle that burns twice as bright, lasts half as long...Senior bats are not really designed with no warranty to be our bp bats.. and other options are better that have returns. It does make all the manufacturers sometimes push the limits of how much wow factor they need to have out of the wrapper, in order to pick up market share...so I sympathize.

Getting proper top arm extension, is a good way to balance too much rotation and the dragging of the lead arm and knob at an up angle...which in turns causes the bat head to drop and creates a golfing uppercut swing.
