Tom: Hard hitting natural 1st baseman, bats left, throws left, and, most importantly, can run for himself!!! Live in Ocala, Fl, would like to play in Pensacola, if needed.

Rooster, I live in Ocala and have been a member of FHC for 9 years. I currently am associated with a 60AAA team on a National Level but am looking to increase my playing time. I am NOT playing 60 ball in FHC at this time.

Left handed throw and hit, 1st baseman by trade(but a real good one!!) Hit around 700 most of the time, occasional power to all fields. Looking for a tourney team from FL, any division!!!

Discussion: Host Hotel Surcharge

As I understand it, any team not staying at a Host Hotel has to pay a fee in excess of those teams that do stay at the host hotel. That fee, again, as I understand it, is $120.00 above and beyond the tournament fee. This surcharge is to be applied even if the team is a local team. I live and play in Central Florida and we all live within commuting distance of several of these tournaments, but yet we are still being financially punished for not staying at the host hotel. I'm thinking that this needs to be revisited. But, then, that's just me.

I play both 50 and 55 ball in Florida and most recently for Suncoast Sunrays in the 55 division.

This is my 3rd year in a row at this tournament and its the same each and every year. One umpire. What's up with that? Is it a money thing? Well, duhhhh, of course it is. I know they do their best but they ARE going to miss some calls and THAT hurts when youre on the losing end of a missed call. I didnt write a check for the entry fee, but if I had, I think I would have asked for a partial refund.

One umpire in particular had this to say to my wife prior to our first game of the tourney. "I'd like to hang the guy who invented these bats. This game was meant for Friday Night drunks." Now how he knew I was intoxicated on Friday I'll never know, but ireegardless, THAT comment need not be made.

For those who know Helen, you can appreciate her etort. "Maybe you ought to find sonething else to do on the weekends."

Discussion: Ultra II Beyond 2005

As a career first baseman, Im used to getting "hot shots" and think I field them fairly well. Every once in a while one gets thru the glove and bounces off my shin "ouch". I blame not the bat, nor the batter, nor the ball. I blame me. I enjoy using the Ultra II and will continue to do so as long as its still legal.

Discussion: Any results from Altamonte Springs and the ISA Nationals?

Played in Altamonte with OPW, a 55 team from Clearwater. Most of it was good stuff, 'cept of course the ball. Seems to me THEY (the TD) shouldn't get 2 bites of the apple. They put out an inferior ball with restrictions on bat use. One otjer note for other TDs who read this post, HAVE A PRE-TOURNEY MEETING WITH THE UMPIRES AND GO OVER ALL THE RULES! The pitching rules were simple enuf, 4-10 feet. We had one umpire who said, "No, 6-12 feet and that's how its going to be." Even his field umpire argued with him but he wouildnt budge. The umpires did do a credible job, especially so with Terry and Tracy, two female umpires.

I have a NICE 50 team from Central, FL. Looking for sponsorship. Team is major, players are quality, coach is suspect (that's me!) and sponsorship is nill. Any ideas

Discussion: Winter Nationals at Fort Myers

I went, I saw, I played, Im peeved. Now let me see ,where do I start: a team is rated, pre-tournament as 55 Major, they play a 55 Major + team and were suddenly re-rated as AAA and given a 5 run cushion. My team is rated 55 major, play the same 55 Major + team and are treated as equals. Ok. Then we play the recently demoted AAA team and they have been PRO-moted to 55 major. Hmmmmm. Me so confused. To finish it off, at this very nice and well cared-for, 4-field complex, had 3 fields empty at the end of the tournament while we were kept waiting for 45 minutes to play our meaningless consolation round game on, yes, you guessed it, the 4th field, the only one being utilized. And yes, our umpire was waiting as well. Speaking of which, what is it with ONE umpire? Sorry for my ramblings, but ... needed to vent!!!
